Hamburg's Eddie Ness is one half of local duo Epikur and part of the Lehult imprint: the very label bearing this release. They're up to their fourth one now and Ness throws down some fine, harbour city deepness here. Starting out with the soulful and funky "Ombre", it's soon followed by a killer remix of it by Berlin via Romania's Borrowed Identity who gives it a tough, jacking and swing fuelled makeover that retains all the soulfulness and sexiness of the original. "Afro" follows through with more soulful and emotive deepness with spiritual vibes reminiscent of early Osunlade and then "Menjou" a broken dark and atmospheric slow burner to set the mood early in the evening just nicely.
The young Lehult imprint drops its second outing and it's a collaborative effort by an equally young and fresh-faced house loving trio. Liem & Eddie Ness offer two club-ready bombshells, "Bassforce XXL" and "M-Trax", with the former being deep and subby while the latter bumps and grinds its way across starry melodies and a distinctly funky vibe. Lastly, Eddie Ness teams up with another newcomer Johan Kaseta for the title track "Let's Get Playa", a downtempo lounge house number for the meditative, cocktail-induced moments.
