Review: Fresh from his adventures on Liquicity, Edlan makes his debut on Onyx with three beautiful deep soul designs. 'Surrender' sees the Dutchman linking up with two super on-point UK vocals as Bazil brings the bars and Sydney brings the raw, yearning emotion. For more sentiment and soul, 'Mirrors' (with Circ:cle) takes us on a deep introspective twist while 'Fading' brings a cinematic edge to the finale. Never a dull moment.
Review: If you've been following Integral this past year or two, you'll know that Artificial Intelligence have really taken a liking to the wispy, atmospheric and rolling side of the liquid they've contributed so much towards. Edlan & Djah are two artists they've taken under their wing in recent times and, following both of their debuts on other respective releases, they've teamed up here for the Melancholy City EP. This is vintage stuff, especially the title track, which combines powerful yet subtle ambience with a driving sense of purpose, the drums are precise and the whole thing is wrapped up nice and tightly. Excellent stuff from two young Dutchmen.
Review: Edlan is back. He's back! The Dutch boy wonder has first full length release on the legendary Integral Records, Artifical Intelligence's label and an imprint which is dedicated to the purveying of high-quality liquid and rolling beats. Alumni include Lenzman and Alix Perez, so Edlan is in good company. He clearly deserves to be there though, the production levels are through the roof on this one and it's definitely his best work. A lovely addition is the fearsome 'Tree of Life', the heavy track on the EP and a Dawn Wall-esque banger which rolls out deliciously. Bigups Edlan.
Review: Having built up an immaculate body of work that belies his young age on labels such as Fokuz and UKF's new talent championing platform Pilot, Dutch firebrand Edlan lays down his biggest EP to date on the mighty Liquicity. Four originals and three versions in weight, this shimmers and glows with his now trademark soulful prowess as we glide from the emotional yearns and soft flutters of "Go Back Home" to the more turbulent introspective bumps and jumps of "Middle Of Nowhere". Landing just in time for the sunnier season, you can expect plenty of picture perfect sunset moments to every track on this EP all summer long. Home is where the vibe is...
Review: One of the most iconic and prolific labels in the D&B scene, Fokuz Recordings manage to simultaneously show off the best in the game whilst supporting new talent and the results are fantastic. This album - a recap of 2018 - exemplifies their approach. It's full of big names and bigger tracks, including S.P.Y's remix of 'Always Yours' by Macca & Loz Contreras, Artificial Intelligence's remix of 'String City' by Lenzman and Calibre's remix of 'Forward Thinking' by Satl. Whilst these are obviously great, the bigger story lies in the lesser-known participants and their ability to pull at your heartstrings. DJ Ransome, Edlan, Soligen amongst others all come seriously correct on this LP, turning it into a seriously good release.
