Review: Gr8 scott! High R8 are celebrating 10 years of being at the forefront of dnb, grafting at the future talent coalface and we're in for a treat of a trip down memory lane. Featuring early cuts from modern day donnies like Guv, Spaow and K Motionz, the collection takes us back to 2011 then pings us around the last decade by way of crucial cuts from the likes of Damage Report, Dub Bezerker, Nu Elementz, Sub Killaz and beyond. Highlights include the still-raw 'Blood' from Guv, the stripped-back vibe and grungey bass slaps of Diskize's 'Rain' and the haunted cries and sense of tension in Filthy Habits' 'Hidden Secrets' but to be honest the whole collection slaps and really highlights how consistent and ruthlessly gully High R8 have been since they began.

Review: Fresh from his Rogue album on Multi-Function, Envenom makes his debut on High R8 with four sharp sonic slappers. Electrified with his signature high end style, each track really blasts with a hair-raising energy and laser-frazzled aesthetic. "Panic Room" lives up to its name with prang-inducing iciness and franticness, "More" twists with a little more Q&A riff funk while "Can't You See" plays a cool contrast between the soulful vibey breakdown and a razor blade riff that slices first and don't even bother to ask questions later. Finally "No Mercy" brings the most twisted highlight with a brilliantly warped, crying bass weep that flutters forlornly yet furiously. Let panic commence!

Review: According to dictionaries to envenom someone is to bite them or infect them with a poison. According to junglists, meanwhile, to Envenom someone is to hit them hard with the gulliest possible jump-up cuts and not stop until they've kicked two massive dents in the floor. Following high profile releases on the likes of Calypso and Multi Function this year we find him smashing down the doors of Smokin Riddims with two more jugular-aimed riff-heavy cuts. "On My Way" balances a sci-fi atmosphere with grunted staccato bass hits while "Run" thrusts with a riff that can cut through solid concrete. Infectious.

Review: Heist's Calypso Muzak continues to unearth fresh talent and give them the spotlight they deserve. Envenom's time to shine... Building on the sturdy foundations dug on Multi Function and Train, each of the five cuts shows how he subverts and twists jump-up and tear-out conventions: "Blizzard" layers bass in thick impenetrable sheets, "Killer Bass" is a space voyage over asteroid terrain while "Deaths Door" has a bass riff and breakdown so harrowing you'll need counselling for three years. Dig deeper for some skillish switches and trippy fills on "Warning", aluminium aggro on "Stimulation" and broken glass, handclapped funk with the playful riff on "Bad Juju". Devilish.
