Review: EleFlight Records continues to impress with its bight, breezy, jazz and disco-flecked take deep house. Following fine releases from Shur-I-Khan and Darias Vaikas, the London label turns to Erik Ellman, who recently impressed with a solid single on Large Music. "People Say" is something of a sun-kissed treat, with distinctive jazz guitar loops and woozy vocal samples riding a chunky, rolling deep house groove. Helsinki's Lauri Saine provides the remix, offering up a sumptuously warm and jazzy re-make that makes great use of swirling, easy listening strings (think "Deep Burnt", and you're close), dusty jazz samples, dubbed-out vocal cuts and a head-nodding bassline.

Mad At You - (4:06) 117 BPM

Review: With this rock solid EP, confirmed label-hopper Erik Ellmann makes his bow on the recently launched Poetry in Motion label. He begins in confident fashion, underpinning Dixieland style jazz samples and bluesy vocals with a lolloping, bongo-heavy house grooves on the quietly impressive "Ease Harmony" (think Mr Scruff's "Get a Move On" with French Touch filters and a dash of Chicago boompty, and you're close). M.ono provides a loopy and locked-in deep house interpretation that benefits greatly from some tumbling jazz guitar solos, before Ellman turns a much-loved peak-time disco cut into a dusty house bumper (confirmed floor-filler "Mad at You").

Review: Dikso Records is run by Andi de Luxe and Daniel Solar out of Berlin. Following up some great releases in recent times by Levantine, Hurlee and Sasha Anastasov, they've got a terrific new one coming at us right now courtesy of Erik Ellmann. The Leipzig based producer has appeared on imprints such as Poetry in Motion, EleFlight, BEEF and Large Music - so he has definitely got the right credentials. Lo-slung slo-mo disco for the late night awaits you on "Lasse" - beware because this one is infectious. This is followed by some some dusted-down deep house on the loopy tip as heard on "That Is Why" which will appeal to fans of Robsoul or Ondule.
