Review: Following his Infrared earlier this year on the label, Exos returns to Mutual Rytm. While his background lies in dub techno, Icebreaker is very much a dance floor EP. "Voices of Volanco" features chopped up vocal samples and an ominous, growling stab set to a peak-time, rolling groove. "Enter The Danger" follows in a similar vein, with Exos layering ghostly synths over a robust tribal rhythm. On the title track and "Chicat", layers of dense, filtered percussion are combined with rave stabs and wild filtered drops for maximum impact. "Mocoa Beats" is more linear, but its buzzing bass and throbbing bass ensure that it will also get DJs' attention.

Review: Exos has been releasing music since the late 90s, including dubbier sounds on the seminal Thule label. Cyber City offers a more frenetic take on techno compared to those early, frazzled excursions. Clocking in at well over 140bpm, "Open Your Mind" is a rave-infused banger that features ponderous vocal samples. "We Are In Control" has a stronger connection to his older work, as dramatic chords swoop in - but in keeping with his current focus, the rhythm barrels along frenetically. "Buzzer" is the most visceral track on offer here. Led by a noisy bass and pounding kicks, it is sure to cause dance floor mayhem.

Review: Striking a balance between label regulars and new artists, the third instalment of the Forever series provides a great snapshot of the hard techno landscape. On "Junkyard Shift", label debutant Somniac One delivers a coruscating, rave riff-infused take on peak time club music. Exos, who is also releasing material for the first time on Perc Trax, inhabits a similar space with the rolling, abrasive "Warlion". Perc's own contribution, "Rotopod", a collaboration with Million, is an intense affair, with the pair dropping dense kicks and intense percussive builds. Meanwhile EAS, who has put out music before on the label, drops an acid-seared banger that's powered by robust break beats.

Review: Following on from his 2020 Indigo album, Exos aka Arnvidur Snorrason drops a killer minimal techno EP for Figure. The title track is a high-tempo, minimal affair, peppered with acid lines and rasping percussion. Meanwhile "In No Time" sees him opt for a deeper approach: the drums are dubbed out and the use of filtered break downs lends the track a truly cavernous sensibility. Exos returns to a peak time environment for "Time Of Time", where stomping kicks and glitchy percussion are fused for maximum impact. In stark contrast is "No To Time", a serene, stripped back affair led by dreamy chords and the deep, chugging finale, "Time Of".

Review: Periodically, labels get a little fascinated with reissuing material from certain previously overlooked scenes. Recently, that's meant a surprising re-focus on the Icelandic dub techno scene of the late '90s early 2000s. The chief beneficiary of this has been Arnvidur "Exos" Snorrason, whose pioneering 1998 12", Q-Box, recently resurfaced on Thule. Here, his 2001 album My Home Is Sonic gets the reissue treatment on Delsin. Sat somewhere between hypnotic German minimal, the relentless loops of Robert Hood, the dubwise Berlin antics of Rhythm & Sound, and classic Motor City futurism, the album remains a timeless example of dub techno at its' very best.
