Frozen In Glass
Frozen In Glass - (6:46) 120 BPM Hot
Scopulus - (7:28) 120 BPM
Terminal Z - (6:52) 120 BPM
Review: Since his acclaimed release "Gazebo" on Border Community back in 2005, Toronto-based producer Jake Fairley aka Fairmont has displayed an ability to fuse well crafted songwriting with powerful electronic attitude. Following up his last appearance on BEDDIGI123, his eagerly awaited follow-up, the Scropulus EP, unveils another immaculate track collection. From the seething and dirty EBM-influenced pulse of "Frozen In Glass", the similarly noirish arpeggiations creep their way into the hypnotic progressive house journey of the title track and all culminating with the atmospheric minimal house journey that is "Terminal Z" harking back to his sound in the mid noughties and closing out one killer release.

Review: John Digweed looks back on a terrific year that was 2018 - not to mention the 20th anniversary of his Bedrock label. This last year saw him serve up the Bedrock XX box set, team up with good mate Nick Muir on the terrific "Crazy Diamond" in addition to his awesome Live In Tokyo mix CD - so there's plenty to celebrate. Featured here are some of the year's highlights and exclusives alike by heroes of deep tech house such as: Booka Shade with their moody cruiser "Rosebud", Belgian veteran Jimmy Van M appears several times but is most on-form on "Cobalt", Systematic head honcho Marc Romboy with his impressive sci-fi epic "Cosmo" and the return of trance legend Oliver Lieb on the riveting "Epoxi".

Review: Jake Fairley's Fairmont project has graced well-known underground labels like Traum and Border Community, but now his move towards the big time continues with a follow-up release for Bedrock. While the title track contains all of the usual Fairmont / Fairley signatures - throbbing bass, trance hooks and psychedelic undercurrents - the vocal sample and spiralling builds are sure to appeal to a mainstream audience. On "Parrish", Fairley reverts to his deeper, electronic sound. Fuelled by a pulsating bass, glitchy percussion and dark, mutating riffs, it provides fans of Jon Digweed's label with a glimpse into the inner workings of one of techno's most idiosyncratic artists.

Obsidian - (6:32) 115 BPM
Obsidian (Heretic remix) - (6:59) 121 BPM Hot
Onyx - (6:28) 115 BPM
Onyx (Samuel Berdah remix) - (8:00) 115 BPM
Review: Canadian minimal/tech house legend Fairmont is back with the Obsidian EP. As always it's sleek and slinky tech house on the darker and mysterious tip, particularly with the title track with its dark and wonky synths, razor sharp bassline and sombre atmosphere all working in perfect aesthetic harmony. The remix of it by Heretic is much funkier, energetic and uplifting: a high octane groove that's just perfect to transition in to the peak time. Second original track "Onyx" is very epic: after the massive drop there's some killer synth riffs, emotive strings and a tight rhythm that shows us that this is how you make a dark journey track! It's guaranteed for dance-floor mayhem. Finally its a remix by Samuel Berdah which strips things back a lot, creating a much more sombre atmosphere and throws one seriously mesmerising melody over the top which does most of the work and rather well.
