Review: Big moment for Faysha right here as he lays down his debut album Special Request on Liondub International. Special by name, special by nature; Faysha's really stretching his legs and taking his sound from slinky, fun and funky ('Touchdown') to gruelling, gritty techier flavours ('No Days Off') Elsewhere he links with various Liondub International such as Liondub himself and vocalists like Blackout JA who appears on the tried and tested realness anthem 'Enemies & Friends'. Other highlights include the rave delight and heavyweight bass of 'Listen' the horn-blasted butt-wriggler 'Run The Track', the euphoric piano-tickling empowerment jam 'Hold On' and sweet vocal swinger 'Everything You Say'. Special times.
Review: Faysha, Blackout JA and Liondub all on one jam with a perfectly positive message... There's a lot to unpack here. Firstly Faysha and Liondub's beats hit hard with their stripped back off-the-wall funk. Then you have Blackout's fire bars which lay things out with clarity: don't worry about the haters, the greedy politicians, grubby capitalists, authoritarians and all things Babylon - just focus on yourself and those close to you who make your life special. Then if that's not enough you have the currently unstoppable Acuna on the remix tearing things up to a whole new level. What a jam!

Review: Boh! A banger, a Nuusic Banger. Vibes, a drop of a gully, son! Nuusic bring the sounds once again with this fourth edition of their VA series. Loaded with exclusives and new remixes and VIPs, it brings the whole Liverpool / North Wales label's family together, highlighting the wide-armed provocative consistency throughout the album. Highlights include ELLM's Danny Byrd style VIP twist-up of 'Soundboy', Arkala Dre's slinky prowler 'Pirate Radio', Epicentre and Guzi's devastatingly huge and ironically titled 'Little Roller', the creepy tension and eerie feels of Geekcroft's 'Turn It'. The list goes on and on...
Review: Liondub International continue to raise the pressure with their non-stop slew of gully. This time it's courtesy of Faysha and Grim Sickers who rattle off a whole list of essential culture ingredients over a pared back groove that opens up into heavenly synths mid way. Remix-wise Lupo goes for pure minimal mastery with the treacle subs and rasping bassline growl while P Skinna completely flips the vibe into a grime-like halftime bubbler. Trigger fingers in the air.

Review: 'Pull It' up, pull it in, let us begin... Faysha continues his excellent vein of form with this seismic six-piece on Dutty Bass Audio. The message is clear from the moment the title track kicks in with its sirens and big belly subs rumbling away beneath the crunchy beats. The rest of the EP maintains the pressure in a variety of ways; 'Diamonds' has a late 2000s jump up gnarliness to proceedings, 'Innocent' flips between sweet and sassy rnb and utter filth while 'Rolling Deep' does a similar contrast vibe with jazzy tones and an old school Bristol flavour. Elsewhere 'Position' brings the reggae skanks and 'Dead Ya Head' is just total KO material. Serious bang for your buck here. Pull up till you're full up.

Review: Dan James aka Faysha is a producer with releases to date on Liondub International, Jungle Cakes, Maad Ting, Dutty Bass Audio and Juicy Fruit. The original version of "Mouse" was released back in 2020, but this remix package shows that the track still has a lot more to dish out, with reworks coming from some heavy hitters in the drum and bass scene. Conrad Subs, whose version has been popular in the clubs lately, is featured on here, alongside remix contributions from J.O.E, Speaker Louis, Niterider, Leks and DJ Direkt.
Review: Pure 2021 soul; Liondub teams up with the rising styles of Faysha and renowned Jamaican vocalist Ras Ajai for a beautiful and restrained moment of affirming, empowering jungle drum & bass. Honest and very stripped back to just the pianos and Ras's vocals, it's an emotional moment. Need something with a little more grit? Look no further than Dunk's remix with its sweeping alien basses and stark feeling of tension. Complete with instrumentals, all mix scenarios are covered right here.
Review: Let's talk about dub organisation. Essentially if your dubs are a mess, then your life is a mess. You need to keep things in order and have your weapons ready to pull out and chop off a soundboy's head at any minute and you can't do that if your dubs aren't organised. Good job Liondub and Faysha and Red Fox are on hand to help you get things in order. Just drop this and the lyrical energy and euphoric feels will give you the clarity and motivation you need to sort your dubs out. Review: Faysha is over on The Foundation and with this four-tracker takes you on a rough and ready journey through rolling D&B, one that's characterised by its reliance on the best elements of the older school of 170 sonics: big drum hits, creative sampling and a complete lack of pretentiousness or over-engineering. 'Come With It' is exactly that and we love the sample that rolls out over the drop and the funkiness of the double bassline whilst 'Drop It Down Low' finishes things off in style as well with more wicked sampling and rolling basslines, this time of nostalgic rave sounds aplenty. Lovely stuff.

Review: All time original jungle label outta Caledonian Road, London, is 24 Karat, a platform that since its inception in '94 has tirelessly delivered all matter of drum and bass that over the years has morphed through hip hop, grime and trap while remaining a central port of call for UK club culture. Deep into 2020 the label presents Heavy Hitters: Volume Two - a 23-track large compilation that brings back productions from new signings Armada, DugBass, Destiny and Sasha Khan ("Soundclash") to established regulars and in-house pioneers like DJ Direkt, Keith Patience, Pablo G and label boss Danny Styles. Introducing new flavours from the freshly signed H2O and Juxt with the dreddly "Danger Dubs", other highlights include DJ Direkt & Faysha's demented "Killa" alongside the the grubby dubs and rave of Dugbass in "The Lies". It's a knockout.
Review: Kevlar Beats gets its name from the body armour, and although the bass on this single might be heavy enough to break some bones, it's definitely not music that's mean enough to try. Starting with the funky album art and moving into the music, this single from Faysha is funky and upbeat the whole way, even if there is some heavy bass weight. 'Play it Back Again' mixes stabbing basses with powerfully solid drum hits and nostalgic ragga sampling to form a carnival-friendly roller with serious attitude. 'Easy' follows a similar formula and the results are just as fantastic - not one to miss.
Review: Jungle Cakes are one of those really cool labels that has an endearing amateur vibe that lends so much legitimacy to their music. It's not polished and marketed professionally, but exactly for that reason you know their music will always be straight up vibes. Faysha is carrying that banner now and he's doing so with four roughshod tumblers that pack in old-school and new-school vibes in equal measure. 'There's a wobbling feeling of heaviness across all of these tracks which smacks of sound system culture and urban living, especially on the lovely breaks of 'Gucci Belt' and the sonically sound sub-bass squelches of 'Big Sound'.

Review: 24 Karat presumably get their name from the measurement for gold and this compilation is, by any stretch of the imagination, full of weight. Featuring tunes from artists old and new in the 24 Karat camp, this album stretches across 17 heavy, dancefloor numbers. The first outing, 'Heavy Hitters' by Danny Styles, is classic funk-into-dancefloor vibes and we love the array of twisting, snarling basses that fans of this producer will recognise. Danny is a regular throughout this one and he nails it consistently. Shouts also to Faysha on the sweet 'Heavy', as well as Keith Patience on thee crazy jungle number that is 'HeadShot'. Big.

Review: For this bumper of a VA, Juicy Fruit have roped in Redline, Erbman, Rival Technique and more for the 2nd instalment in their Juicy Gang series. Featuring 7 street-focused cuts, there's a plethora of styles here that make this EP an easy win for anybody who appreciates the diversity of music the scene has to offer. Redline lands with the old-school, junglist cut that isn't the most glamorous but which gets the job done in a fashion only the old school can. Kovert Sound and Bill & Ed take things up a notch in terms of heaviness, whilst Hannibal Selector gets all funky with an wicked set of samples and some stuttering rolling drums. Wicked, wicked.
Review: Faysha is landing on Dutty Bass Audio with an unsophisticated but incredibly fun release, one which, if you hear out live, is certain to get you moving. There's a carelessness and a freedom to these tracks and it's a tangible sense of kinetics. The title track kicks things off in style but it's 'Hey Mr Policeman' that really takes the cake, a winding, foghorn heavy track that flips between wobbling shimmers and jump-up stabs. It's a wicked track and definitely the highlight of the release. 'Ting A Ling' is another absolute banger but one that's deep and bouncy in all the right ways. Sick release.
