Sao Paulo label return to Tropiculo, last year's triumphant album from Felipe Sa for a digital single featuring two fine remixes. Bringing a distinctly contemporary approach to the Brazilian sound, the Rio De Janeiro-based producer's album was ripe for reinterpretation and Alma Negra and Tiago both stamp their own personality on their chosen tracks. Swiss trio Alma Negra are up first, transforming "Mueava" from its lean percussive origin into a thick-set jacking house cut that wouldn't sound out of place on Comeme, whilst Lux resident and all round Lisbon legend Tiago turns in a trippy remix of "Sinenkosi Poltergeist".
Felipe Sa hasn't had a long and illustrious musical career as of yet, but the same goes for the Magic Jams label, who are only on their second release to date. Flirting with both house and nu-disco, Felipe Sa manages to inject a glorious air of playfulness into "Party Rock", a feel-good dance tune charged with the vocals of Ye:Solar. Felipe's 2015 remix of the same track injects a steadier dose of drums and percussion into the mix, alongside a joyfully stuttering bassline, while the Snacks remix is a proper house banger, complete with hypnotic chords and that unmistakable Chicago/Detroit flavour.
