Review: Ferdinger aka Ferdinand Gratz returns to ARTS following his 2020 debut for the label. Fans of 90s club techno will find much to love here. "Darkness at Noon" leads with dramatic chord builds tied to an insistent rhythm, invoking Dave Angel's more clubby work. The title track sees Ferdinger add dramatic filters to this approach. Combined with jittery keys and a slamming rhythm, it makes for a highly impactful track. On "The Art of Letting Go", the focus is on murmuring tribal drums and atmospheric melodies - this fusion makes for the release's deepest track. In contrast, "Under My Spell" resounds to tough drums and dramatic filter sweeps, making for another classic techno-inspired track.

Review: 2020 was a particularly difficult year for electronic music, with clubs worldwide shuttered, but as the latest compilation from ARTS demonstrates, the techno community has no shortage of creative energy. This ingenuity and creativity is audible in all areas, with Rave Culture platforming new and established artists. MRD and Alfredo Mazzilli both deliver pulsating electronic bangers, while Raar's "Collider" is a moody break beat affair. At the other end of the spectrum, label owner Emmanuel's "Camouflage" is a rave-influenced peak-time roller and I Hate Models drops the stomping but atmospheric "Intergalactic Emotional Breakdown", while other established names, Benjamin Damage and ASC, deliver forceful, musical workouts.

Review: Triple Vision pull out all the stops on the ninth Evidence Based edition. Tin Man's expansive 303 sound is to the fore on the aptly-named "Acid Swirls", while representing a more sombre, subdued style is Oscar Mulero's broken beat remake of End Train's "Into The Sun's Maze". Deadbeat drops a high-paced minimal techno groove in the shape of "7th and 33rd", while Triple Vision scores a coup by securing the services of Steve Bicknell - the Lost founder's contribution is the suitably textured and otherworldly "Constant Movement". He's not the only high-profile name to line out for this edition and I Hate Models delivers the rattling, glitchy techno of "Beloved & Damned".
