Review: Pure Brazilian high grade; longstanding Sao Paulo stable DNBB reflect over some of their most touching, soulful rollers and gossamer grooves with this third volume in the Golden Team series. Highlights can be found across the entire 23-track collection but instant bliss and pure uplift can be found on the likes of Mystific's piano-pimped "Into The Sky", Motta's lavish soul and sample craft on "True Romance", the sultry Latin purrs and nylon strings of DJ Roots "Sorriso De Flor" and the emotional key lilts and hurricane atmospheres of Cosmikk's "Lea". Nothing but vibes, sunshine and soul, when they say gold, they mean gold.
Review: The new year is always the perfect time for labels to release compilations and so there's quite a few hanging around at the moment, LW Recordings' latest Essentials album being one of them. For those not in the know, LW Recordings are a small imprint that consistently support artists you almost certainly won't have heard of, and this adds to their charm as well as the quality of their output. Essentials Vol. 12 shows off some of that talent, from the steppy tones of Aardonyx to the lounging melancholia of SND and the downtempo tones of Drosoxide, it's all fresh young talent. One for those liquid lovers who like to stray off the beaten path.
