Review: In Germany if you wanna lay down some dope grooves, you call up The Ruffcuts. Often referred to as Germany's hardest working backing band, these guys have recording backing tracks for Flo Mega, Bajka and Georgia Ann Muldrow. Here Melting Pot have taken the master tapes of their The Essence Vol.1 LP and allowed some of their favourite producers to sample the bejaysus out of them. The results are an intoxicating collection of groove-based jams including Figub Brazlevic's acid jazz-tinged "Stoned 94", Shuko's 60s psychedelic pop of "Cloudy" and Illiaz's raw and distorted big beat/hip hop banger, "The Ruffest". Word!
