Review: A most intrepid selection for the next instalment of the Late Night Tales series come from an equally beguiling soundtrack by multi-instrumentalist Jordan Rakei. Known for lending his vocals to the music of Disclosure to releasing with Blue Note and on Ninja Tune, the New Zealand born artist introduces himself to Late Night Tales with something neoclassical. Taking on folk, jazz & free jazz to spoken word, warm instrumentals and ambient dualities, the spaces between are filled with percussive electronics, solo acoustic numbers and walls of instrumental noise, culminating in two exclusives; Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's poetic closer, "Imagination", and Jordan Rakei's very own cover of Jeff Buckley's "Lover, You Should've Come Over".

Review: On paper, this collaboration between celebrated Italian producer DJ Tennis and long-serving Ninja Tune stalwart Fink is an unlikely one. In reality, though, it works really well. Fink's melancholic, heartfelt vocals and gentle piano lines are a perfect foil for Tennis's gentle, soft touch house groove and dusty audio textures (see the superb, nine-minute Club Mix). The accompanying remix package is rather good, too. There's a sumptuous, string-laden ambient revision from OPUS 3000 that's worth the entrance money on its own, a rolling but spacey deep house revision from Lee Jones, a brilliant chunk of dark and moody electronica from Mentrix and a club-friendly tweak by The/Das that sounds a little like early Floating Points crossed with skewed outsider house.

Review: Lithuania isn't known as a hotspot for house music, but as Silence Please shows, it contains more than its fair share of talented artists. The Few Nolder takes on Markas Palubenka's "Kill Me" and Fink's "Q&A" map out new possibilities for modern deep house, the vocals chopped up over dreamy chords and snappy drums, while Darius Vaikas pushes towards a darker sound. This he achieves with the chilling strings and rippling bass of his interpretation of Mario Basanov's "Machinarium" and the chiming drums of his own "White Eights". But it isn't just Vaikas who embodies the Baltic wind blowing in over Vilnius and Mario & Vidis' "Warung" is an inspired piece of eerie, bleepy house.

Review: We're not quite sure how one measures the temperature of a shadow, but we assume it's yet another in a long list of talents possessed by Ninja Tune stalwart Fin Greenall aka Fink. This guy counts everything from being a (retired) DJ to an early Amy Winehouse producer amongst his achievements but it's all about the singer-songwriter shizzle now. The title track is a broody electro-acoustic stormer that gets reworked by Sideshow (a lolloping downtempo mix), Marcus Worgull (soothing Balaerica) and totally overhauled in an intense, freaky fashion by Colin Stetson and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon.
