Professional Raver (feat Rubi Dan) - (3:47) 130 BPM
Review: So happy were Hot Cakes with Firestar Soundsystem's previous single that they immediately demanded a follow-up. Here they've duly obliged with the Booty Shake EP and it's a corker! This time round we get four original cuts: the fierce ghetto badness of the title track, the epic build ups of 4x4 monster "Big Ting Vibe", the heavy grit ragga breaks of "Bass Fight" and the party-friendly funky break-step of "Professional Raver".
Review: Big bundle of breakbeat power here with a new, slamming two-tracker from the one like Firestar Soundtsytem! The Rat imprint is the host to these two burners which, by the way, will undoubtedly satisfy every bass head from here to Aberdeen; "Weed Music" is fueled by a bursting bit of electro bass and caressed into a seductive new form of futureproof r&b thanks to the vocals' catchy hooks, while "Can't Test Me" adopts a much more global approach thanks to its full-bodied blends of house and bass.
Review: After a year of releases, 83 are taking stock with 83 Showcase 01, their first label compilation. It kicks off with the utterly monumental opener "Around The Corner". Crafted to perfection by Suga7 it's all loose and slow funky drummer beats and haunted bass. Elsewhere across these ten tracks we have all sorts of other discoveries too including the stark, dry and claustrophobic vibes of "Get Down" by Javy Groove and the doomy ghetto swing of "Underground" by Guau, a jam in possession of one of the most evil build-ups ever.
