Review: Madness from Manchester! Sola's Grand Theft Audio wrap up another stunning year with this truly epic VA that - as the title Full Spectrum nicely hints - reflects and celebrates the full dynamic range of this beautiful thing we call drum & bass. Over the 33 track range we're treated to all manner of treats and beats from dreamy disco-like flexes (B-Plexx - 'Cynical') to wild, untamed howlers that melt clothes within seconds of you hearing the bass (Replete - ' Theia'). There's so much swagger in between, too. Hologram's G'd up 'Make A Move' acts as the perfect opener while other cuts such as Korrode's futuristic dark funk stepper 'Alternate Universe', Voltone & Stuart Rowe's euphoric dancefloor bubbler 'Drift' and Tong8's soulful swooner 'Choice' all map out some of GTA's most exciting sonic parameters so far. Full spectrum by name, full flavour by nature.

Review: Smooth N Groove does exactly what their name would suggest: they purvey high-quality D&B beats which are certain to smooth your soul and make you want to groove. Fishy kicks things off with 'Suspense' and its serene territory, with wistful piano sampling making up the high end of the range and punchy low-frequency pulses occupying the low. 'Wormhole' rests less on the sampling and more on the top-quality synths, underpinned by another wholesome bassline. 'Sunlight' stutters down int lo-fi jungle territory, whilst 'Cold Strings' is the funkiest of the bunch due to its moving back end and luscious flow.

Review: if the title doesn't say it all (and it really should) then the label's consistent ethos to discover fresh talent around the world certainly will. Soul Deep have been whittling this stick for years, bring us names who've been criminally overlooked before and bringing it all together with a usually blissful, bright and breezy signature. The LA label's first Unsung Heroes package since last November here we find Eschaton adding a "Horizons" style twist to "Forest Sunlight" we're in air piano heaven on Mosiac Theory's "Infinite" and we go loopy to the classic liquid dynamics of Rodrigo's "Improvisacion De Iluvia". And that's just three of 16 cuts on offer here. Soul Deep a truly spoiling us.

Review: All fin-bearing puns aside, Fishy brings something deep and delicious to the table (sorry, we're done now) with these few cuts of luxurious rolling D&B. "I Said I Know" in particular is a standout track, pulling deep, forward-driven bass upfront, dragging with it the soulful vocals and piano with a real feeling of momentum. Showing off a more technical side in "Still Waters Run Deep", Fishy manages to create a darker sense of mystery while maintaining those trademark rolling hi-hats. For the emotional amongst us, "Forest Sunlight" is a beautiful piece of emotive D&B, played on pretty piano and given a big bassy workover. Lovely stuff.
