Review: The road don't stop in Bristol. Flex 180 to the other UK coastal outlier for more inspo as cats in Anglia show us how it's done on the east side. There's some tasty names on board, too, as Damageman takes the lead with the big bruising 'Grey' before Conrad Subs freezes us in our track with an iced out grime-flavoured 'Version'. Elsewhere Flat T' brings dusty funk samples on the earth-flattening 'Freddie Got Fingered', JOE goes for that old school D*Minds vibe while Phaze One has us all in a soaking wet mess on 'Champion Tuneup' as a jump up wobbler turns into a lighter raising anthem. Review: Conrad Subs' Koba Audio has been an exciting source of contemporary jungle throughout 2023 and this final release of the year is certainly no exception as Conrad invites Yung Flatty to the fold with these two super crisp cuts. Ironically for a name like Flat T, these are hyper pumped as both 'Got The Feeling' and 'This Way' slap and tickle with pure venom and mischief. The former goes for the feels with a classic housey style vocal sample and a drop that booms hard enough to wake animals from their winter hibernations while the latter goes a little more old school in its charm offensive. Both crush it.

The whole LP is one massive highlight but it's great to reload cuts like [IVY]'s four-to-the-floor bounces on 'Moving', the cut throat amen slaps and chops on Toby Ross and Oram's 'Wide Roach', get swept away in the emotion of Flat T's 'Women's Work' and get KO'd by Lupo and DJ Hybrid's still-crucial 'Soundboy'. Review: Train Recordings are definitely looking to up the levels with this one as they invite the grizzly sounds of Flat T inside, who has let loose a dizzying display of original drumsy flavour. We open up with 'Collection Point', a gnarly chop up off squelching synth stabs and highly intense drum lines, kicking the project off in style, before the almost acidic bass textures and constantly shifting percussive inverts of 'Java' wade into view. Both introductory tracks give us a pacey intro, with the more expansive synth work of the title track 'Voices' then following in crushing fashion, giving us a real stick of rave-ready ammunition. Finally, two secret weapons for the dance, with the grinding synthetic growls and eerie string leads of 'Navigator' first arriving to up the energy levels once again, before finally closing the project down on the mega-smooth harmonies of 'Lionwood', which through a combination of 80's style instrumentation and cluttered drumlines, gives us a final dash of finesse to sink away to!

Review: Not to be confused with flat earth believers, or the flat white (a generic coffee of choice for many people) Flat T is actually a longstanding badman based in the east coast and usually found frolicking around the evergreen playground between jungle and jump-up. This massive EP on Deep In The Jungle is no exception as he unleashes a rainbow of gully across five tracks. Notable moments of 'YES' include the Clipz-style high range bass tones and funky bubbles of 'Pied Piper', that beautiful, tear-jerking vocal sample on the emotional brock-out 'Womens Work' and the insane depth charge bassline plummet on 'Guilt'. And that's not even the whole EP. 'Colony' - proof that working together will always pay off.

Review: Biological Beats mainstay and LionDub International high roller Flat T arrives on Murky Digital with a little slice of everything. At six tracks large and extensively deep, the artist doesn't shy away from a bit of snarling bass in "Everything I Taught You" and heavy riffs in "Nooks & Crannies". Stripping it back a little more with some added percussion in "Now Inside" next to some stand out snares in "Fill Me In" - the stand out track here is no question "Shuttle". A number that takes in Flat T's entire sound-world that's full of tempo, edgy liquid rhythms and falling atmospheres. Blast off.

Review: Flat T lands on Liondub International with a clubland focused journey through drum & bass' rougher side. This label doesn't have a reputation for holding your hand and this is clearly evident throughout High Rollers Vol 2, none more so than on 'Listen'. With a barebones, stripped back approach that's reminiscent of Digital or Spirit, Flat T combines old-school sampling with a distinct rawness to emphasise the track's low-frequency weight. This style is replicated across the other tunes to varying degrees but there's one constant: unadulterated sounds with the aim of serious dancefloor pressure. If that's your thing, then this EP is certainly for you.

Review: It appears that the Ghetto Dub Recordings team has assembled one hell of a roster for this one as they unleash the fully unmixed version of the Dubz: ReRubbed album project, allowing us to enjoy each and every tune in its full majesty. We find the perfect balance of high intensity dancefloor danger and more stripped back rollers throughout the compilation, from the Phibes remix of Wrecked from Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion giving us a gritty, synth lead smackdown to the much more junglist inspired recreation of Java's 'Screwface' from Aries. There are a few standouts throughout this eclectic selection, including Epicentre's monstrous sub-driven rework of 'We Up There' from Bill & Ed, alongside Veak's neurotic overhaul of Subcriminal's 'Mack 10' and the system rattling recreation of Flat T's 'Proceedings Closed' from Durban. What a selection this is!

Review: Oh hello there Audio Addict. Celebrating their 10th anniversary in true style, DJ Hybrid's label call up some serious names to get their remix claws into many of the label's classics. Comprising the likes of Gray, DJ Gaw, K-Jah, Section, Conrad Subs, Parallel, Disrupta and so many more on-point names in modern D&B, each cut gets turbo-charged and subverted to the max. With 26 remixes, there are too many highlights to mention but you'd be mad to sleep on Disrupta's savage take on Hybrid's 'Shoot 'Em Up', Parallel's epic sweeps on Swerve's 'Massive & Crew' or GLM's cosmic take on Section's 'Perfect Space'. Review: Biological Beats are turning fifteen years old and, like any good anniversary, it's being celebrated with a proper knees-up, hands-in-the-air type compilation of jump-up heavy hitters from a slew of wicked artists. This is that celebration and DJ Limited, Puppetz and more are in the place, whilst Enta and more make a feature as well. Enta turns up the heat with a screamer with 'Ear Dis', Puppetz takes things heavy on 'Reborn' and Traumatize drags proceedings into a bouncier place with his stormin VIP of 'Joker'. All round, an excellent showing from the crew and an excellent example of how to pull off a big compilation.

Review: Ruffneck Ting have been too kind to us this week, as instead of amore standard single or four-track release, they've dropped an eight-track album of sorts, a collaborative effort by Erbman and Flat T which rolls out in absolute style. The percussive construction is a highlight of this release and 'Hit It' demonstrates this best, with a flurry of beats flying all over the shop and underpinned by a wobbling, movement-filled expression of low frequency oscillation. 'Late Night Blues' is our other favourite, with some gorgeous reggae sampling injecting a bit of funk and another excellent bassline providing the final heat. Wicked stuff.

T>I loosens the bass strings for his slinked out dark-jazz stepper "Regulate", Hoogs puts all the aces in their places with a precision space-reggae gully jam "R Ting", Coda goes all bubble-bass a la mid 90s V on "Back It Up" and Jaxx & Dub General roll out with pure grumble groove and classic jump up spoken samples. Finally Flat T brings business to a close with a deal-breaking late 90s Bristol-flavoured cut where the spooked-out bass has a life of its own. Immense.

Review: Longstanding roller merchant Flat T returns to Biological with five high grade stampers: "Energize" opens with dramatic strings before a robot takes us down a long dark tunnel where data glitches sideswipe and tubular subs knock us clean off our feet, "Get Me Out Of Here" is pure hornets nest nastiness while "L Bass VIP" adds more rattling amen action and more deviant notes on the sub arrangement. Elsewhere "Minerals" takes us so deep underground we hit precious gems while "My Home" sees Flatty flexing his end-of-night Liquicty style vocal muscles. Lighter!
