Flowdan - "Automatic" (feat Jamakabi - Korin Complex remix) - (3:12) 140 BPM Hot
Korin Complex - "Mountains Meet The Sea" (original mix) - (5:39) 94 BPM
Review: The Bleak Winter crew have assembled a pretty spicy original with this one as we see the powerful vocal presence of Flowdan join forces with Korin Complex for a fiery display of original 140 energy. First up, an additional guest joins the party as Jamakabi delivers a sumptuous display, aligning forces with Flowdan for a blistering combination of original grimey vocal flavour over Korin Complex's master production. On the flip side to this, we get a much more stripped back experience as 'Mountains Meet The Sea' gives us a silky combination of aquatic percussive pops and shimmering melodic grooves, giving us a very tasty B-side for this wonderful two-track experience!

Review: The Bare Selection team have gone out of their way to unleash one of the most potent collections of remixes we've seen in a hot minute with this fiery Flowdan display. First up on the tracklisting, Wize arrives with a futuristic, drill-inspired rethink of 'Plans In Motion', working together some angelic vocal layers with evil violins, before Marcus Visionary gives the same track a post-funky rethink, jam-packed with synthetic goodies. Next, Roska delivers a groovy overhaul of 'Pump Fake', using some typical Roska rhythmic mastery, Followed by Lijah's typically creative re-imagining, linking dissonant keys with smooth breaks. From here, Cassius Select arrives for another tribal-sounding overhaul, this time giving 'Light Work' a drum-heavy rearrangement, with Marcus Visionary making a second appearance with his grimey version of 'Eagle Cry', rounding off the project in style.

Review: Following on from the fantastic response to its original release last year, Tru Thoughts have supplied us with an absolute gem here as they welcome back the legendary Flowdan for an official remix of 'Welcome To London'. This was one of Flowdan's more spooky creations, operating at a slower tempo, which has been completely revamped by the wonderful Jack Sparrow, who takes the acapella and sends it to an entirely new dimension, speeding up to around the 140 mark and layering it between sumptuous, bouncy bass taps and inventive drum work to give a fantastic original an additional dash of magic!

Review: Let's be real here for a second. There are few vocal artists within the extended circles of grime that boast as high a work rate as Flowdan, a legendary MC with a catalogue of clouty bangers. This latest project takes the title 'The Red Pill', showcasing a different side of his character. There is still a tonne of versatility involved with this one however, from the haunted overtones of 'Savage' alongside Jammz and 'Time Is Money' with Roachee, to the demonic, stripped back structures of 'Upset' with catchy vocal hooks from Snowman Baby. Finally, 'Tell Me Nothing' runs with a very experimental instrumental, letting gunshots and emotive chords run wild beneath Flowdan's unique storytelling approach. This is definitely a different approach, complete with instrumentals and acapellas to match!

Review: It seems to be the season of Flowdan as he returns to us for yet another hard hitting single release here, this time joining forces with the highly sought after production stylings of Boylan. The pair land on Nomine Sound for an absolute ruckus of an original, with Boylan providing a lethal bed, writhing with reesey bass textures and rocket launcher drum drops, over which Flowdan is given the freedom to run riot, switching his lyricism between extended poetic verses and more hard hitting, shorter style punches. Wicked stuff!

Review: This is a release we were dying to get our teeth stuck into as the legendary Artikal Music imprint welcomes home J:Kenzo for a fantastic new single, alongside the man himself: Flowdan. The pair join forces for a wicked new creation which takes the name of 'Like A Hawk'. You can tell that this is a track that has been created to send the raves into a frenzy, as J provides a stunning steppers backdrop, over which we hear the legendary vocal presence of Flowdan let loose, with classic, gritty lyricism and aggy flow patterns. The release also comes complete with a J:Kenzo 'Darkside' VIP, which sends the track even further into a new dimension.

Review: Following on from a very impressive run of new singles, we are now introduced to the long awaited Flowdan album, going by the name of 'Full Metal Jacket'. In short, it is the perfect showcase of what Flowdan is all about, featuring 11 hard hitting creations with some top draw guest appearances from the likes of Frisco and Irah, the second of whom appears on both 'News At Ten' and 'Level'. For us, there a couple of immediate standouts from this project, which have to kick off with the demonic tones and harsh patois vocals of 'Deadly', followed by the hypnotic melodic experiments of 'Coldest' and the slower, more emotive instrumental flavour and vocal stylings of 'Deal Wid'. Excellent stuff!

Review: There really is no stopping Flowdan at the minute as he returns home to Tru Thoughts again for yet another cruddy single. This latest release goes by the name of 'One Question' and it more than personifies Flowdan's uniquely demonic sound. Through a combination of evil, organ-like synthesizers and dark, moogy bass subs the composition provides the perfect platform over which Flowdan himself is able to less loose. He approaches this one as a call and response between himself and an affected vocal addition, providing and interesting contrast throughout the recording, and we love it!

Review: It's been a brief minute since we heard from the infamous sounds of Flowdan, who returns here to Brighton based experimental label Tru Thoughts for an extraordinary voyage into the spacey realms of 'Welcome To London'. This is Flowdan in his bag from start to finish, weaving his gritty yet insightful lyricism between spooky sub tones and shimmering reverberations, topped with distant car screeches and drill-like drum patterns. This release also comes jam packed with bonus features, including a fully-functioning acapella addition and a full version of the instrumental. Awesome stuff.

Review: Within the grime scene, Flowdan has earned his respect as one of the most consistently shelly MC's out there, regularly returning to 140 with a new belter for the dance. This time he teams up with Tru Thoughts to release his brand new single 'Shell A Verse', a dancehall infused shackout, built up with triplet drum patterns and pulsating subs, topped off with dubbed out chord delays and subtle horn section pressure. As a bonus, this release comes complete with the instrumental and acapella, so you can expect to hear versions of this one all around the country over the festival period.

Bodybag (feat Irah) - (3:14) 140 BPM
Review: Returning to Tru Thoughts to pick up the disaster pieces, rebuild them and smash our senses all over again, Flowdan is back on the Brighton label with another power-punch program. Dramatic, funk-barbed beats by Masto, mic-bounced with Brixton's Irah, "Bodybag" is every bit as deadly as the title suggests and you'd expect. Let's hope this leads to another album...

Review: Following the massiveness of his collabo with Roni Size, Rockwell teases us with another subversion excursion from his forthcoming "User" EP. This time tagging in with one of grime's most iconic and crystal clear voices Flowdan, "Inventor" is a bashment stamper with militant drums and serious sermons from the Roll Deep professor. The results speak for themselves. Bring on the full EP.

Review: You might recall Flowdan from his recent album, Distaster Piece, but the man's style and swagger has probably been imprinted in your subconscious thanks to his part in the infamous Roll Deep cartel. The man was one of the group's long-term vocalists but, over the last few years, he's been concentrating on his own productions. This extended EP focusses on his "Grime" tune, a dancehall-flavoured gunshot riddim with plenty of aggy vocals and blaring percussion shots, but you also get an original mix of the deep and murky "Groundhog Day", a lo-fi tune with the Animai's vocals sounding more like street poetry than grime. There's a sinister remix of "Horror Show Style" from Shades, a proper bass attack that brings us back to circa '03, followed by a more tribalistic version from Telemachus. Cop it and you also get a selection of instrumental mixes, along with some juicy acappellas - hold tight!

Review: Gentrification is quite a thing. East London might be full of middle class types fetishising '60s Brutalist buildings like Goldfinger's Balfron Tower. But original resident, and former Roll Deep MC, Flowdan (aka Marc Veira) has something to say about it too. Veira grow up by this tower and to him it's a 'Disaster Piece' from a grim place rather than a masterpiece. This album is his most personal and over this 12 track 'melodic grime symphony', he opens up about a hard knock life that he (and pals like Tinchy Stryder, Manga and Animai) knows better than most.

Review: Flowdan (aka Marc Veira) was, along with pals like Wiley, JME, Skepta, Jammer, Double E and Footsie, instrumental in breaking the UK Grime sound 15 years ago. Today he insists that it never went away, and he certainly hasn't either - always keeping it real and, now with new album Disaster Piece looming, stronger than ever. The first taster from the record is single "Horror Show Style", which features a creepy, doom-laden track over which this former Roll Deep MC delivers his unique, time-bending flow. Produced by the mighty Splurgeboys, this track has got us well hyped for the LP!

Review: Decibel and Flowdan tore things up with "Skanks" earlier this month, and now they're back with a tasty remix package spanning all types of bass styles. Network delivers a deep and dark bassline house version, pitching Flowdan's vocals down into the murky ether, while I Killed Kenny builds on the original's frenetic style with a rave-infused UK funky bomb, something mirrored on DJ Cable's similarly furious remix. Lol Gurlz meanwhile offer a moody and atmospheric take filled with syncopated, head-nodding drums, while Toni Moretti's remix offers much the same but with trippy hi-resolution percussive tones. Amazing stuff!

Review: It's bashment o'clock round Decibel towers judging by the sound of his new bomb, and the currently on fire Newcastle producer doesn't appear to be mellowing any time soon. It's all about the party here on "Skanks", mercilessly so, especially with the legendary grime MC Flowdan on vocal duties - there won't be a dancefloor left alive after this incendiary fusion of footwork, tropical and hysterical rave is dropped. Just in the (unlikely) case it doesn't rock your world, there are two extra mixes supplied - Hybrid Theory deliver a slower, wobble-heavy housey version, while the Enigma Dubz mix defiantly keeps the classic dubstep sound alive!
