Review: Vancouver, Canada native Shawn Ward has five previous long-players under his belt, most of them coming like this one on his own Starfield Music imprint. There's a good chance, then, that you know what to expect here already. But for the uninitiated, Ward specialises in electronic music that draws heavily on the sounds of the 80s for inspiration, be that cosmic disco, coldwave or straight-up synth-pop. Cuts like 'A Million Miles Away' could sneak onto the Heart FM playlist alongside the likes of Stephen 'Tintin' Duffy, The Lotus Eaters or Tears For Fears and no-one would bat an eyelid, while other tracks such as 'Strange Ways' have a darker, moodier feel. A very faithful homage that will delight 80s lovers.
