Review: This huge collaboration for dubstep aficionados sees Circus co-founder and dirty bass god Flux Pavilion hook up with one of 2011's breakout stars, Skism, on the mighty "Jump Back". After an unholy build, the pair drop a smooth bass rhythm over half-step beats and allow London MCs Foreign Beggars to tear up the track with some typically intense rhymes. A huge tune, guaranteed to get some heavy rotation over the next few months, we urge you to get involved asap.
Review: Second time around for Foreign Beggars and Alix Perez's Modus EP, with tracks from the original release - on which the veteran UK hip-hop crew made their presence felt over a variety of bass-heavy rhythms - getting the remix treatment. Calyx and Teebee take top billing, turning in a heavyweight remake of "Modus" that begins in half-time tempo before spiraling into a pounding D&B roller midway through. On the virtual flip, Nevermind weighs in with a typically murky, sub-heavy, string-laden dubstep remix of the ragga-flavoured "Deng". Both remixes get the perfect balance between dancefloor heaviness and original UK hip hop.
Review: Doctor P and friends fire up their mean bass machines for this rather generous eight track EP. Roksonix fittingly opens with a ringside seat to the halfstep chaos with a well-executed wrestling sample. Mizuki induces a sexy sense of strange with the wonkier, wistful, 8-bit baller "Damn F*#king Right". Later on we take a seatbeltless ride on the scariest ghost train this side of Kansas with Funtcase and take up smoking with Genetix's well-stacked "Chimneys". When things get too hot, you've got to get Shady...

Review: Sixth in the series, This Is Dubstep is one of the more comprehensive, on-point series the scene has given us (ie: many!) Across the 40 tracks every single shade is covered; from rave-tinged (Noisia's remix of "Smack My Bitch Up") to all-out technicolour bass (Drumsound & Bassline Smith), This Is Dubstep 2013 pays respect to all corners of the dance - including the really far-out experimentations of Mala and his Cuban project. With exclusives such as V.I.V.E.K's "Barcelona" and Killawatt's "Single Entity" thrown in for good measure, this isn't just a summary of today's dubstep; it's a slice of the future too.
