Review: Coming off a year of releases from Black Life Smoke, Alex Albrecht and Francis Harris this fourth drop from Scissor And Thread's Tailored Cuts series brings with it music from their artists of the year with some added intrigue coming in remixes from LNS and Northern Electronics' Anthony Linell. Label boss Franic Harris too turns in a remix of Tomi Chair's "Heat Exhaustion" with the sound of synthesised pan pipes dancing over the top of a deep subby loop and rhythm track. Sophia Saze has her track "Alien" stripped back into a lighter atmospheric number rattled by rock hard drums. Alex Albrech's Melqueades project goes deep into forever piano territory with "Schaefer Street" while the distortion and sizzle of Black Light Smoke goes deep, deep and disco in "Hustle" and "In Gold".

Review: Tbilisi's infamous Bassiani spot already has its own label, but now the queer-centric Horoom space within the club is launching an imprint of its own. Opening up this split EP, Francis Harris is a great choice for the first drop on the label with his smoky take on deep house sinking under the skin and leaving a chill in the air. Adamo Golan takes this seductively spooky mood and injects it with uptempo but equally submerged broken beats via his remix of "Archive Fever". Then Hamatsuki presents two original tracks and while very different "Kandzaia" and "Picnic Attack" both project a more mellow side-room ambience that's a joy to sink into.

Review: Long-standing German tech-house legend Steve Bug, founder of both Pokerflat and Dessour, returns to the latter label with something a bit special, and likely to satisfy all of your DJ needs. The producing don has taken it upon himself to remix a twelve tunes, all from different artists that have shaped the sound of house and techno as we know it today. You'll find Bug's retouches on artists like Simon Baker, Manuel Tur, and even Lovebirds. However, the special moments come from his sleek Re-Dub of Chez Damier's mythical house bomb "New York Dub", a stripped back edit of Laurent Garnier's "Whistle For Frankie, and the gorgeously deep swells of his remix of "Pensum" by Francis Harris. Masterful, and very much recommended.

Review: After recently notching up three years in the business, HFN Music offshoot Hafendisko is in a suitably celebratory mood. So much so, in fact, that they've put together this first compilation, featuring a mix of previously released cuts (see Ewan Pearson's epic, Italo-influenced electro-disco remix of Kaspar Bjorke's "Apart") and brand new jams. Highlights are pleasingly plentiful, and include the moody, low-slung deep house jazz of Simon Hinter's "Easyweezy", the picturesque beauty of Yannick Labbe's immaculate "Sugar Coated Insult", and the bouncy, beatbox electro-with-a-twist brilliance of Jimmy Edgar's synth-laden rework of Tiger Fingers' "Little Drummer Girl".
