I'll Take You There (Moplen remix) - (7:23) 125 BPM
I'll Take You There (Director's Cut Classic Signature mix) - (7:50) 125 BPM
I'll Take You There (Dimitri From Paris ReEdit) - (7:48) 125 BPM
Review: A second 'Director's Cut Collection' of Knuckles classics reworked by long-time collaborator Eric Kupper is coming next month, but in the meantime this soulful, Jamie Principle-sung 2011 cut which featured on July's first installment gets a single release, with the Classic Signature Cut that was on the album now augmented by the Dimitri From Paris Re-Edit from the original 12-inch, plus a brand new Moplen Remix. The latter introduces some wigged-out Hammond work, Dimitri opts for a blissed-out vibe, while the Signature Mix still sounds as gloriously retrofied as it did in 2011, trance-lite synths and all!
Review: No one does contemporary disco like Dimitri From Paris. And no one has the compilation licensing clout like Defected. Naturally this is a match made in glitterball heaven as DFP spans 40 years of grooves with a spotless collection of his own edits and upfront jams. Ranging from his own twists on standard disco gems such as "Le Freak" and "Lost In Music" to the likes of Disclosure's "F For You" and Todd Terje's "Delorean Dynamite" this is, without question, one of Defected's most extensive, expansive and exciting collections to date - which really is saying something. A natural fit for all house, disco and funk fans young and old.
Review: Serious sounds from the underground cropping up here with the likes of DJ Sneak and Joey Negro in effect. Sneak's vamp goes large in his roof raising 'Funked Booty' mix to Studio 45, with high-speed ballroom house to be found in Olav Basoski's Diva Dub of "Luv 2 See Ya". Straight up Prescription / Cajmere vibes in Eric Kupper 'New York' mix of "Not Much Heaven" amid a bevvy of tracks embracing the charms of nu disco, deep house and afro-garage.
