Review: In original form "Change The Past" was one of the more club-geared cuts on Kepler, the under-rated debut album by French Fries issued on Clek Clek Boom. It is therefore of little surprise that this is the track that both Fred P and Chevel picked out given the opportunity to remix an album cut for this new release. Up top Fred Peterkin's trademark reshape takes Valentino Canzani's original production to the sort of depths one would expect, whilst ensuring there's still enough punch with the kicks that get fired off in an unpredictable fashion. Becoming quite the en vogue remixer, Dario Tronchin impresses too, taking "Change The Past" in a more abstract and quite dreamy direction that you could forsee MIA stealing for her means.

Review: Last year saw French label ClekClekBoom cement its burgeoning reputation with a compilation showcasing the local talent it had been championing since starting up in 2011, including such luminaries in wild-card bass music as French Fries and The Town. There has been a swarm of left-leaning club bangers issued out since the first volume of Paris Club Music, and so it doesn't feel rushed to be welcoming the second volume with a stack of choice cuts from the past twelve months. There's a strong unified vibe to ClekClekBoom, from the tight but slippery electro of Manare to the off-kilter techno of NSDOS, while 50Weapons staple Bambounou sounds right at home with his primal and utterly head-spinning "Idem".

Review: On Paris Club Music Vol 1, French label ClekClekBoom offer their first compilation, providing us with a wide-eyed snapshot of the current Parisian underground. There are hints of familiar French staples - the stomping Ed Banger-ish ravery of The Town's "Dice", the classic house flex of Coni's "Missing You Nire" - but for the most part Paris Club Music Volume 1 dances to a different beat. With label regulars French Fries coming to the fore, much of the album is devoted to the sort of hard-to-pigeonhole bass music that takes its influence as much from B-more, R&B and UK garage as filter funk and electro-house.

Review: The first artist album on the Parisian label ClekClekBoom fittingly comes from French Fries. After debuting on the 'French' electro label YounGunZ Entertainment (alongside Bambounou) in 2010, Valentino Canzani Mora has remained central to ClekClekBoom since he co-founded the label back in 2011. The Kepler LP comes after a string of bass-heavy tracks and bootlegs, but there's no denying this LP is the South American-born artist's piece de resistance. At 13 tracks long, the album explores hissing cosmic ambience, experimental drum tracks, industrial bass-techno, broken beat rhythms, and some dubbier excursions on a classical tip. Special mention going to the album's club-geared highlights "Bug Noticed" and "Change The Past". Highly recommended.

Review: Although ClekClekBoom's first label compilation is imminent, the Parisian imprint has still found time to put out this fine EP from label mainstay French Fries, with three tracks of the kind of dark, rhythmic heads-down club gear the imprint have become increasingly good at unearthing. It's an EP of contrasting dark and light elements; "Everything" is an atmospheric piece of precision bass techno, with forceful kicks interspersed with laser-cut synths, while "White Screen" is a more rolling number whose fierce toms are joined by cascading sheets of neon. "D'Angelo" on the other hand is a stylistic about turn, dropping the tempo for a murky, late-night house track filled will shimmering dub chords and a particularly funky bassline.

Review: A Killer French Fries platter from the ClekClekBoom crew here, laying down a taste of what we can expect from the Parisian's debut album, due out early next year. Both cuts here are prime club tools for the DJs out there, pure and simple! Lead track "Machine" crams all manner of sonic influences into a hefty 130+bpm flex, operating at a techno tempo but not moving forth like traditional tempo. Insteas all manner of rugged ghetto drum sounds cascade against the channels in a manner that hints at French Fries' previous dalliances with the UK Funky template. Flip it over and "Bug Noticed" is a more restrained production, with a palpable sense of menace present in the form of hissing textures and thick, throbbing bass kicks.
