Review: Two years deep! Frenchman FX909 looks back over another hectic year of releases and cherry picks some of the many nuggets from the last twelve months. As always with FX909 Music, the vibe is deep, soulful and musical... And it's stacked with fresh talent and exciting new names for the radar. Highlights include the stirring atmosphere and lonely piano of Citra's 'Serenity', the cinematic strings of Fluid Form's 'Lend Me Some Sugar', the deep dreamy massage of Jazzinspired 'Perfect Conclusion' and the skittering drums and marbled soul on Impression's 'My Only', to name a few. A great way to get acquainted with FX909's output and roster.

Review: Bonjour! Paris's FX909 makes his debut on Heist's Co-Lab with four proper breakbeat bubblers. Each one tickling a different corner of the dance, he's treated us to a wide spread as 'Rock Dem' nods at the early 2000s, super-driven dancefloor style of jungle while 'Run It' pays homage to the mid 90s with a much bubblier bassline jam. Elsewhere 'Velizy' is all about the rattling breaks and big, dubby ghostly vibes in between the elements, 'Put It Under' has a classic late 90s Bristol vibe with added Detroit pads before 'Bring It Up' brings the keys and the feels for a powerful jazzy finale. What a well-rounded and highly vibed-up EP.

Review: Following a streak of releases this year from Yatuza, Confusious and L-Kind, Weapons of Choice Recordings usher in their first compilation for the year in style. Looking to the remix for inspiration, Command Strange is first up taking on Confusious with a ragga-tipped, stepped-up, rave-rolling bomb! New kid on the block Lankzi goes 'back & forth' with a sweet vocal rhythm and workout of Conrad Subs's heavy original, with Quadrant & Iris perfectly liquifying Gunston's "Stay Real". With some horror themes and supernatural motifs taking over the atmospheric passages of FX909's Malicious, Molecular's remix caps off a fresh update of Weapons of Choice Recordings' fine back catalogue.

Review: It's been a fantastic first year for FX909 Music, and this compilation celebrates their inception with a 25-strong array of the label's best tracks so far. It covers everyone from founder FX909 to Insideman, Impression and Wookie. 'Under Control' gets things off on a funky tip, as gorgeous stabs ripple into waves of ecstasy, a vibe that's matched on 'Caramel', with its swirling synth lines and effortless atmospherics. 'Let It Rain' strips things down to basics with a minimalist approach to melodic constructions, and Ms Dos also features on the idyllic 'Changing Keys'. A label to watch, for sure.

Review: Everyone likes a good compilation, right? What's better than having as big a range of artists as possible in one condensed place? It's essentially an album with the ease of listening of a single, so we're all for it. Weapons of Choice have come out with the first edition of The Wild Bunch and it's packed full of bangers, one of those albums which doesn't try to be cool or sophisticated by chucking in a few fillers for the sake of diversity - it's just hard stuff here, with a couple of exceptions llike Viewer's liquid number 'Way to Express'. It works great, with Meladee's 'Weed & Walgreens' the highlight, its driving, bubbling basses intermingling with a fresh sense of movement.

Review: This VA is jam-packed with some of the scene's best liquid maestros, and it's of the movement for Liquid Drum & Bass 4 Autism, a group which seeks to raise awareness and money for those who have autism. Low:r, Furney, MsDos and more have gotten themselves involved, and the result is a lovely, serene walk through some of 174's most nonchalant moments. 'Eyes Closed' by Low:r is especially gorgeous, with his trademark organic sound fluttering in the wind of his creativity like usual. Changer is characteristically deep with 'Only To Be', and it's just the iceberg of what is a brilliant album for a brilliant cause.
