Review: When looking through the legendary imprints of dubstep in the UK and worldwide, there aren't many people that won't have Deep MEDi Musik in their top 3 imprints. To celebrate this dominance over the last 15 years, They have pulled together some of their most popular drops from across the years to be re-released in full digital quality. The tracklisting couldn't be more epic if it tried, with the likes of Commodo, Skream, Pinch, Gantz, Kromestar and more. It's a truly outstanding collection and a true celebration of the creativity found within the dubstep sound, a focus point that Deep MEDi have always been at the forefront of. Featuring 20 of the most popular drops from the label's extensive catalog, this is a collection you don't want to miss.
Review: It is well known to expect something unusual now whenever we take in a new feature length project from Gantz, who definitely does not disappoint on this vibrant five track display with Innamind Recordings. We open up with the cinematic synthy jitters and snapped rhythms of 'Axxon N', which immediately instills a slightly eerie feel to the project, followed by the haunted bass drones and shimmering panning of 'Sleepless Elite'. From here, 'Pusher Acid' pushes us to the edge of sonic reason with a high pitched yet super crunchy arrangement, focussing on small pockets of sonic mischief, before 'Chiral' lets syncopation run riot as an array of delicate yet devious drum punches meander through the heart of a very smooth creation. The bookey drum stutters and glitchy synthetic textures of 'Avert Your Eyes Bass' then give us a pulsating scenario, rounding off one of the more accomplished bodies of Gantz work we have heard in recent times.
Review: Deep Medi's Turkish mastermind makes a comeback on the Innamind imprint with a pounding, raucous bundle of hefty kick-snares. It's the kind of tune that gets people into an utter state in the dancehall, and one which you'd imagine Mala dishing out. His remix of Lurka's "Refresher" is equally as piercing and doubly nasty. Highly recommended!
Review: Now a firm feature on some of the most respected dubstep imprints going, Gantz has bubbled up to be a serious future bass prospect. Here we find him at his most minimal and masterful; "Stayer" teases with the concept of space as a sparse breakdown builds to a subtle but crafty drop that's littered with tripped out reverb and alluring hand drum tickles. "Lyrical Trick", meanwhile, is a thundering percussion workout with acid squiggles, bass depth charges and a droning pad that warps in the backdrop, adding a wealth of texture and urgency.
