Review: While most of today's hyped Vancouver producers were still wearing nappies, Luke McKeehan's Nordic Trax label was representing the city's small but committed deep house community. The long-serving imprint has now notched up two decades, and here delivers an anniversary compilation rich in Nordic Trax classics, previously unheard cuts and McKeehan's catalogue favourites. In some ways, it feels like an education and history lesson all rolled into one, neatly representing 20 years of deep house development. Highlights come thick and fast from start to finish, from DJ Harri and the Revenge's 2004 gem "Slackjaw" and a vintage Audio Soul Project remix of Jay Tripwire, to the seductive sounds of label regulars Gavin Froome, Gavin Boyce and JT Donaldson.

Review: Luke McKeehan is Vancouver's longest-serving deep house DJ and producer. His Nordic Trax label has been championing the style for just shy of two decades, and established itself as an international force long before the city became a by-word for dreamy dancefloor goodness. Rain City Blues is McKeehan's opportunity to showcase his mixing and selection skills. It contains a wealth of smooth and sultry deep house treats, mostly taken from the label's vast archives, presented here in mixed, and unmixed formats. You'll find more recent fare from Matt Caine and Christoph, vintage cuts from the vaults by Joshua Iz, Gavin Froome and Johnny Fiasco, and a sprinkling of ocean-deep tech-house treats amongst the slick, U.S style dancefloor grooves.

Review: Those who were following the fortunes of the Nordic Traxx label in the late '90s and early noughties may remember Gavin Froome. He was a regular contributor to the Canadian deep house imprint for many years, before disappearing from view in 2003. Don't Come Home marks his return after 13 years. "Don't Come Home" is as assured as you'd expect: a warm, rich and comforting chunk of hazy, sun-kissed deep house featuring a lusciously soulful vocal. The Revenge successfully draws out the original's subtle disco touches on a pair of Balearic-minded house re-rubs, while Froome's own remix of "Erupt The Quietus" is a soaring, evocative, string-drenched chunk of knee-trembling trip-hop soul.
