Review: Sometime DFTD and Relief Records regular Mason Maynard made his bow on Hot Creations two years ago via the driving, sub-heavy tech house-soul of 'McLovin'. Here he returns with a far more expansive release that should please the Manchester producer's legion of fans. General Levy makes his presence felt on opener 'Something For Tha Underground', adding hype-inducing raps and shout-outs to a deliciously percussive, sub-heavy and sweaty house workout primed for peak-time floors. Hadiya George sings sweetly on the squelchy, radio-friendly tech house-pop of 'Ring of Fire', which comes accompanied by a vocal-free dub. Elsewhere, 'Motherland' is a breathless, Korg M-1-sporting afterhours slammer, while 'Disco Punk' is a wonderfully bass-heavy 2022 update on the loopy disco-house sound of the late '90s.

Deekline and Ed Solo combine with the untouchable vocal abilities of General Levy for an original, high energy slap entitled 'Have Some Fun', and boy does it bring out a party vibe. Levy's uplifting lyricism layers perfectly over the high pressure drum expressions and potent bass movements of Deekline & Solo's instrumental below, concocting a certified rave smash. Review: Jungle vocalists don't get much more legendary than General Levy, do they? The original purveyor of beats to the junglist massive, that instantly recognisable voice is back on collaboration duties with Bonnot for a typically upbeat single. 'Roll Up' is at D&B speed but is packed with unmistakable dancehall vibes from the infectious bass stabs to the sampling. These influences make for a tune that'll be certain to get you moving, infectiously happy from the off and with lyrics that'll have you pining for the summer and the sunshine. Classic Levy.

Review: MC General Levy has been involved in countless projects spanning the UK ragga landscape and his instantly recognisable touch on the mic is always a pleasure to hear. This time, however, he lands on Jungle Cakes and his "The General" tune is reworked by Ed Solo into a nu-skool jungle workout with a filthy bassline running underneath Levy's intricate vocal twists. The second remix comes from the Mir Crew and this one is all about the beat work: stop-start jungle breaks slowing down and speeding up to drop into one hell of a groove knot.
