Review: Genghis Clan is another alias of the mighty Riva Starr who after releases for Dirtybird, Simma Black and This Ain't Bristol in the past is back on his very own Snatch! label here. He delivers two brand new cuts on this one: "I Am Brotherhood" is an expansive jam featuring one seriously bombastic bass and steely rhythms, supported by an enlightened vocal mantra. Second offering "Outta Control' is equally large but more minimalist but with a tough, boompty swagger throughout that's suitable for the warm-up or afterhours alike.

Review: Riva Starr's Snatch! celebrate 10 years in the game in 2020, and this collection rounds up the best of their output over the latter half of that first decade. Tuff, chuggy tech-house is, unsurprisingly, the dominant sound here, but it's by no means all that's on offer - Rogue D flirts with 80s boogie on 'Take It Easy', for instance, while Soul Speech loops up Heatwave's 'Boogie Nights' on 'Soul Speech'. With tracks from the heavy-hitting likes of Max Chapman, Darius Syrossian, Steve Bug, Groove Armada, Wade and Denis Cruz, and cheeky reworks of classics like 'My Beat' and 'Pride (A Deeper Love)', there's useful ammunition here for house jocks of many different micro-persuasions.

Review: Riva Starr's diffusion imprint Brock Wild returns with more classic house perspectives for the new school, with Genghis Clan taking up the reins on this particular outing. This enigmatic Californian duo have worked with the likes of Dirtybird - who presented their collaboration with scene hero Will Clarke a few years ago and local institution Night Bass when they collaborated with BOT. That unholy alliance makes a return here on the wonky speed garage of "Roketup". After laying low for a couple of years on the production front, they team up with Windy City legend Gene Farris here for the druggy, swing-fuelled bounce of "We Work The Bass" - talk about a comeback! Also worthy of mention is the bass heavy UK shuffle on "Shatafak".

Review: Much-feted Munich party-smashers Schlachthofbronx have the honour of being the first to delve into Man's baile funk-referencing back catalogue for this inaugural "DJ Picks" compilation. Daniel Haaksman's gonzo, ghetto-house banger "Pobum Coco" makes the cut, as does Crookers' "Para De Grainha", which features some hefty tropical wobble as well as Brazilian vocalist MC Leka. Some underrated Man classics also make the cut - look out for Genghis Clan's storming "Gathina" or the proto-moombahton of El Remolon's "Vem Que Tem" in particular.
