Review: Genius of Time, the collaborative project featuring Arkajo and Dorisburg, returns to the spotlight with their latest release, 'Stream', marking their resurgence on Aniara Recordings after a six-year hiatus. This EP comprises four distinct house tracks, reaffirming their status as influential producers in the genre since their debut in 2010. The EP opens with 'CS70 House', a track characterized by its infectious grooves, harmonious chords, and rich string arrangements. The eponymous synth takes the lead, creating an exhilarating and euphoric atmosphere. Following suit is 'Stream', offering a deeper, more dub-infused experience, ideal for those reflective moments on the dancefloor. Then, it's '909 Day', a composition that exudes warmth and moodiness, underpinned by a captivating bassline. It entices listeners to move and groove, inviting them further into the immersive world of Genius of Time. 'Lurar I Skuggan' ventures into grittier techno terrain while retaining the duo's signature laid-back vibe, harmoniously melding the realms of techno and house.
Review: Aniara lynchpins Genius Of Time have bided their, er time since their Drifting Back release for Clone Oak, soaking up the popularity of the all conquering Whitney riffing ''Houston, We Have A Problem'' from it with some profile making remix commissions. They return with the "Tuffa Trummor 12" which fans of their previous Aniara output will revel in thanks to the trademark sumptuous attention to texture, rhythm and detail. Lead track "Tuffa Trummor Med Synt" hints at an appreciation of New Jersey house via the deft percussive swing, the way the liquefied groove fluctuates with intensity and energy in sync with that gently burning analogue bassline is a Genius Of Time hallmark. Complementing this "Tuffa Trummor Med Rost" takes a tougher, more broken attitude to rhythmic concerns, bumping out in a fashion you'd imagine would get nods of approval from the Hessle Audio crew.
Review: Swedish imprint Aniara Recordings continue their expansion into the digital realm with this much needed binary issue of the classic Genius Of Time debut from back in 2011. "Gliese 581g" might hint at the astrological leanings of Genius Of Love, but what is clear is an innate ability to craft hypnotic, fluid analogue grooves that more than retain your attention. Essentially "Gliese 581g" is a gloriously elongated ten minutes of music that gently saunters through different musical movements with nonchalant ease. Naturally "Science Fiction" is just as impressive, jetting off on an intergalactic e funk saunter through snapping drums, infectious percussion and laser beams of analogue effects.
