Review: Ingredients continue to cut the mustard with their excellent selection and ear for a good tune and this, the third installment of the Choice Cuts series, is no exception. Bringing together a range of top-notch artists including Krakota, Foreign Concept, Jubei, Spirit and more, this album is a pleasure from start to finish. Kicking off with "Be Myself" by Krakota which is full of booming bass and metallic, warping SFX, we are taken through cuts such as Dramatic & dbAudio's "The Green Box" and Jubei's excellent "The Path" with its ominous, eerie atmospherics and whisperings.

Review: A wonderful selection from Horizons Music here as label boss Neil Monteiro gathers the good, the bad and the ugly together for the ultimate in compilation albums. Across this 26-track selection we have contributions from artists such as Data, Sunchase, Amoss, Baron, Cern, Sabre and more. Kicking off with the sparse and machine-like soundscapes of Data's "False" we are taken through such moments as the S.P.Y-esque "Deconstructed" by Spirit; the low slung dubbed out "Tolerate" by Clarity and the razor sharp minimalism of Amoss' "Footloose". All in all, there's something for everyone here and underground D&B heads should definitely be eyeing this up for their next purchase - you won't be disappointed.

Review: Pulling together a healthy spread of their roster, Decarhythm ably demonstrate their increasingly focused musical remit on this four-tracker. There's lean techno to be enjoyed from Genotype, where the bassline rules the day and the beat is an exercise in restraint. Kamikaze Space Programme plump for a shufflier approach to 4/4 with "Bhopal", although still plumbing a dark deep-space vibe. Bloodman has a decidedly straight-up tech-house atmosphere at work on "Jones", while Orphan 101 similarly ticks away with a warm sound that peppers the minimal groove with a light dusting of electro. For that sturdy peak-of-the-night tech-edged sound, Deca Rhythm seem to be an increasingly wise destination.

A Few Too Many
A Few Too Many - (6:53) 170 BPM
The Director - (6:09) Hot
Played by: Anodyne Industries
Review: Coming straight out of cookery school, Genotype earns himself a Michelin star with these two super classy cuts on Psylence's Ingredients imprint. "A Few Too Many" adds fidgeting, ticking breaks to an eerie, dark soundscape, full of ominous chimes and warping sci-fi SFX. The tune segues into the drop with a thick, treacly bassline, formidable subs and a stark, stripped back aesthetic. "The Director", another creeped out, minimal roller, reminiscent of a Renegade Hardware release, takes things to the darkside once again with pounding bass, razor sharp beats and morphing b-line. One for the heads.

Review: In manner of "New Blood, "Critical Sound" and so on, Horizons comes up with a various artists compilation showcasing the fresh new up-and-coming talent on their label. Whilst some names such as June Miller, Cause 4 Concern, Data and Spinline, others may not. Highlights from across the selection include Cause 4 Concerns murky, moody roller "Under Forever", Amoss' "We All Grow" with its politicized lyrics and warping dubbed out b-line and fidgety Rockwell-esque edits and Data's opening cut "Formless", with its clicking beats and growling b-line. A nice taster of what we can expect from Horizons in the future.

Review: Broken Audio are back with a gigantic various artists EP, consisting of four of drum & bass heavyweight producers. Anile, Genotype, Insight and Notion & Nusense all appear on the bill as this dark and brooding release kills it with healthy servings of hazy atmospherics and rapid percussion. These will smash every stereo or soundsystem it touches.
