Back on his own turf once more, the ever-intermittent appearances of Ghosts On Tape make each record a particular occasion, and so it is as this latest offering drops on Icee Hot. There's a crafty peak-time tech house intention to "Only Now", shaped out by an insistent chord stab and an addictive percussive roll, while subtle touches of sax inject some sensuality into the mix. "Snake Box" reaches more towards UK funky flavours, even as the beats build with a techno intensity that could work across a spread of dancefloor situations, and then the Innerspace Halflife team climb aboard to throw down a remix of the track that plots a course into dubby, spiritual techno incantations of the highest order.
It's a rare occurrence for Ghosts On Tape to surface, having debuted on Wireblock in 2009 and then followed up with just one other single on Icee Hot. Now though he's back with the rugged bash-out "No Guestlist", which lifts a particularly well-known Lil Louis sample and flings it into a dark, pulsing construction that rolls along on a rattling percussive palette. The "Underground" mix of the track is a more stripped down, techy affair with pattering drums and more psychedelic swirls in the mix, but it's up to Arttu to inject some swing and colour into the situation with his mildly deranged remix. "Still Got That Feeling" rounds the EP off with a delectable dub techno chord that barrels straight into a simmering groove full of white noise, eventually opening out into a moody but enthralling cut.
