Montreal's Greg Pidcock is more usually affiliated with Hot Creations but appears here this time for Matt Tolfrey's always reelable Leftroom for some deep and slinky tech house. First up is the rather sexy late night jam "Big Bump" which also gets a stellar remix by South American homeboy Andre Salmon. The Ecuadorian producer giving the track a druggier and bumpier sense of groove, more suited to the afterhours with its throbbing bass and hi toms creating a trippy sense of hypnotism. Another great release here by the Peruvian-Canadian producer now based in London.
With his swarthy looks, slick DJ photos and tales of being electrocuted by a neon sign when he was young (a true story, apparently), Montreal's Greg Pidcock was almost tailor-made for Hot Creations. "Blame Game" is, unsurprisingly, typical of Hot Creations recent output, delivering a subdued, shuffling fusion of sludgy, spoken word vocals, darting melodies and woozy, minor key chords that seem to last an eternity. Hobo remixes, delivering two contrasting versions. First, there's the Shamed Mix, a more uptempo excursion that thickens up the bottom end, adds a rave-inspired riff and makes a little more of Pidcock's woozy vocal. The Named Mix, meanwhile, sticks closer to the original, messing around with the melodies and drowsy chords to maximum dancefloor effect.
