Bucharest's The Guy From Downstairs doesn't pursue the usual hypno-minimalist stylings of his fellow countrymen, he keeps it pretty normal but rest assured it's really good. Certainly vibrant as demonstrated on his debut the La Di Da Di EP for Phil Weeks' Robsoul. Starting out with the funky disco loops of "Chuuch" he really sets the tone quite well for the rest of the EP to follow. "Insir Rope" gets some rolling funk groove happening and still utilising those infectious latin loops so damn well. "The Mesteacan" features one razor sharp arpeggio that carries this smooth and soulful track and is perfect for those cool down moments. But if "Bogart's Groove" is his nickname for a boompty groove, we're down with that in a way that Derrick Carter or Mark Farina would too.
