Review: For their first release of 2022, Sol Selectas presents the third volume in its highly acclaimed Global Entry series. This compilation features 11 original tracks which explore various moods and grooves, moving from minimal, deep tech and indie dance, through to the incorporation of world music elements as well as disco, dub and techno. Highlights include Namito's sublime journey into the deep that is "Mad Heart" (featuring Mojgan & Marjan), the Middle Eastern polyrhythms of Turkish DJ/producer Ece Ekren's "Canim", while Ukraine's Deenara does neon-lit dark disco on "Queen Wand" and Swiss minimal veterans Dachshund & Quenum venture into after hours territory on "Reverse".

Review: Sol Selectas' first Global Entry compilation, which hit stores earlier in 2021, was a fine collection of deep, dreamy and otherworldly music with a distinctly psychedelic slant. This follow-up is similarly mind-altering in tone, initially flitting between stripped-back throb-jobs (Sabo's 'Togi Trip' and Timboletti's decidedly druggy - if cowbell-sporting - 'About Frogs and Birds'), creepy nu-disco chug (Be Svendson), feverish world music/deep house fusion (Hot Oasis), languid deep house warmth (Paax). As the collection progresses, the beats get marginally bolder and the basslines weightier, with further nods towards hypnotic tech-house, trance-inducing late-90s ambient techno workouts and percussion-laden dancefloor tropicana.

Review: Greek label Shango Records invites you on an unheard world music trip, taking in disparate influences from across the globe 'into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals.' Next up they have tapped Tel Aviv's Guy Maayan for his second offering, with tracks that 'will spread light and shine to the darkest night.' From the mesmerising tapestry of tones experienced on "Moments" from hammer dulcimer, sitar and tabla merging with humming sub bass and deep house beats, to the slow burning (and low slung) remix up next by Madrid's Ernest Oh. Another original offering comes in the form of "Open Your Arms", a moody and meditative yet exotic expression in tech house.

Review: Channelling earthly spirits more than ever before on this latest Summer Sol compilation is a vast collection of artists who are clearly deft in the art of combining traditional and acoustic elements with amplified production processes of the modern day. Filled with deep and techy sounds all the more, this compilation brims with the spiritual klang of ancient percussive teachings, tasteful pan pipes and plucked strings from the world over. Find this alongside epic basslines in Yamil's "Hedia", Ayala's jazz-tipped "Spectre" to the slower-motion and chugging beats of "Vimana (feat Helia Jamali)". And for that dubby tip, we suggest "Shantallion" by Novalima & Israel Vich.

Review: Given that many of his previous releases delivered heady, almost feverish fusions of tech-tinged deep house, throbbing nu-disco and all manner of global musical influences, we'd say that Guy Maayan was a neat fit with Greece's SHANGO Records. His first EP for the label confirms this hunch, with Maayan gleefully flitting between thrusting, arpeggio-driven neo-trance cheeriness (opener "Nation"), extra-percussive peak-time psychedelia (the humid intensity of "Sensacion"), deliciously low-slung and hallucinatory business (the bubbly top-end arpeggio lines, weighty timbales hits, trance-like synth sounds and chunky bass of "Slow Down") and the kind of mind-altering, Afro-tech hedonism that has long been associated with occasional Innervisions artist Mr Raoul K ("Yelle O Yalla").

Review: If you're a fan of tropical disco and deep house - or at the very least electronic music that combines a variety of global sounds with a humid and psychedelic ethos - then we'd heartily recommend this compilation from Shango Records. Beginning with the head-nodding haziness of Lola Villa's "Wendys of Death", the set shuffles (and later dances) its way through pitched-down cosmic disco (Prado's unsettling "Tiete") and feverish, slo-mo house hypnotism (Traum's sub-heavy "Ajulejo" and the 'bad acid trip' vibes of Dn H's faintly foreboding "Mosular Spheres"), before gradually upping the tempo in pursuit of sweatier dancefloor thrills. In this category we'd put Guy Mayaan's "Stars Ceremony", a percussion-laden slab of tech-house/space disco fusion that cannily increases in intensity throughout.
