Review: The ever-inspiring Gyrofield makes her debut on the might Headz with two heavyweight slabs of ice cold breakbeat soul. Following massive dispatches on Vision and Deadbeats already this year, once again she flips the switch and shows another side to her sound. 'Maybes' has a dreamy, gentle quality to it while still grizzling with a foreboding tension underneath. 'Oligarch' meanwhile hits with even more subversiveness as jazzy notes fly around the mix over a spacious, glitchy groove. Both tracks smoulder with Metalheadz tension and atmosphere but neither rely on any of the label's usual motifs. A huge look for both artist and label. Essential.

Review: Experimental noise and drum and bass producer outta Hong Kong (but currently based in Bristol) Gyrofield arrives on London's Inspected label with Title Card, a three-track solo EP featuring the one extra collaboration with little known act, Latesleeper. With all matter of ripped, torn, screwed and chewed rhythms coming out of "FYDB" and "23nd", a very melodic and synth heavy "Silk" helps balance the EP alongside the glitchy, syncopated and minimal grooves of "Rosequartz". Clocked.

Review: Overview are without a doubt one of the biggest success stories of recent years and 2020 has proved to be their biggest yet, with a slew of fantastic releases across their roster of artists. Pretty much that entire crew is represented here and the tracks cover their 2 year history, from early tunes like breakout hit 'Around Me' to brand spanking new cuts like 'Framed' by Klinical and Waeys. Waeys has been an important part of the Overview story and his tune 'Who You Are' with Hadley was one of the first steps in that journey, a ridiculously dirty techy roller with an infectious bounce and a progression that will certainly get your gurn on. A spectacular album.
