DUPLOC BLXCK TXPES Collection
Review: What a year it has already been for the DUPLOC collective. A crew that has done more than almost any to uphold and push the future of dubstep forward, both as a label and as a general entity. This latest drop sees them pull together this enormity of their 'BLXCK TXPES' releases for one almighty collection, bringing together the likes of Oxossi, Ternion Sound, Wraz, ENiGMA Dubz, Hypho and many other titan-weight producers for possibly the most loaded dubstep drop in recent years. Although previously released, it's fair to name a few highlights, including the super jittery subs of Roklem & Sebalo's 'Shake The System', the bulbous bass bounces of Lost's 'Level Up' and of course, the authentic sounds of Hamdi with his generational smasher 'Skanka'.

DUPLOC100
Review: In all honesty, we are running out of words to describe the pure domination we are seeing from the Duploc camp, especially with their output thriving heavily in 2023's unique dubstep ecosystem. For this latest offering, they celebrate their 100th official drop with a regal arrangement of guests, including the likes of Lost, Wraz, Rugby, Ternion Sound, ENiGMA Dubz and more, all of whom have pulled out their weightiest weapons in combined celebration. If you wanted a full on display of the majesty currently at work within dubstep's deep catacombs, then look no further than this epic selection, with our favourites including the ground mulching bass melodies of Hebbe's 'The Insider', next to Mystic State's warming rework of 'Voice' from Opus, and of course Hamdi's rave-ready synth action explored within 'Immortal'. There aren't many collectives doing more than the Duploc team right now.

MISSION 02
VISION / Various
Played by: Thing
Review: The mighty Vision step forth with another humungous Mission VA collection, once again shining the brightest spotlight on some of the most exciting corners of bass music across the globe. Reading like a who's who in innovative production, the collection ranges from utter gutter-chomping filth from the likes of S Murk and Monuman to hurricane sonics by the likes of Current Value and Forbidden Society. Special moments can be found on each and every twist and turn the collection takes from UFO and Bro Safari's brand new project ET Finger to the new technoid inspired alias of Hybris - Pruvan. Absolutely sublime; here's to more future Missions.

DUPLOC BLXCK TXPES 2.0
Various
Review: You can always rely on the Duploc team to deliver on the big stage, with this latest collection seeing them continue their 'BLXCK TXPES' series into its second edition. Featuring 8 hardy originals, the roster is truly stacked with talent, with the likes of ENiGMA Dubz, 11th Hour, Pushloop, Hypho and more veterans all making themselves known, next to a couple of very tidy original creations from Chef Boyarbeatz and DubDiggers / 207. Our two highlights come from right at the top of the project, with Hamdi's 'Skanka' being one of the most sought after 140 originals of 2022 and Lost's 'Level Up', being an irresistible swampy roller. The whole collection however just oozes quality and is another emphatic victory for one of the most consistent 140 outlets out there.

Three Lanes
Review: Without putting too fine a point on it, the growth we have witnessed from Hamdi over the last three years has been nothing short of incredible, trying his hand at so many different sounds and styles and being incredibly successful in each and every one. This time around he is back on his original 140 flex, joining forces with the Locus Sound set up for three glistening originals. We begin with the delicate, emotional displays of 'Hand', which utilises a beautiful lead vocal and softened piano chords for an ice cold experience, before sending us back into the stratosphere with the grizzly synthetic twists and high energy LFO drives of 'Squirrel'. Finally, a garage-like approach on 'Who Can Drum', which sees Hamdi's unique approach to rhythm in its full glory, delivering a minimal yet impactful epic.

Southpoint Presents, Vol 9
Various
Review: In the near 6 years Southpoint has been up and operational, we have seen them constantly supply us with wicked compilation sets, always looking to showcase the next big talent whilst also welcoming back their stacked roster for another outing. The collection they have pulled together for this latest drop is pretty powerful, with label regulars Cortese, Daze Prism, TVU, Drax, Earthnut, Hamdi, Jakebob, Kiddah, EM-Roe & KXVU all making solid contributions. They also welcome the likes of Demure, DV-US & Vital Techniques back inside, following on from some very exciting single drops, whilst also introducing us to one of the stars of the future in Clarcq, a Scottish UKG producer whose infectiously uplifting 'Siren' leads the way here. Excellent work once again.

Creepy Crawlies
Review: Whenever we see a new Hamdi drop land in the store we know we are likely to be in for a good time, with this latest outing seeing him make a home at the Steppers Club, one of UKG's most impressive imprints across 2021. This time he delivers a sizzling two-tracker, kicking off with the blippy synth slides and catchy drum grooves of 'Creepy Crawlies', which sees the Oxford-native combine two alternate ends of his production range for a lowkey system roller. On the flip, we are given a much more typical display of sonic harmony and musical progression as 'Rejuvenated' combines floating pad textures with choppy drum designs for a palpable b-side. This is a fantastic debut on the imprint for Hamdi, who is set to have a very busy 2022!

Kiwi Boost (The Next Wave)
Review: It's safe to say that since the major re-emergence of garage music, the Kiwi have become one of the scene's leading lights, adding a dash of additional flavour to the scene with their fantastic array of releases. This latest drop entitled 'Kiwi Boost', is a wavy compilation of new school garage mastery, kicking off with a stormer from Douvelle19. This one takes the title 'Show Me' and is a subtle yet sumptuous take on future garage flavour combining sizzling vocal slices with groovy melodic tips, followed by Sharda's groove-inspiring rhythmic designs in 'Crystalize'. Next, Livsey makes his Kiwi debut with the more stripped back percussive plucks of 'Eat Ur Greens', with Hamdi's energetic 'Shake' following up in rapid fashion. Finally, Oppidan delivers the final boom with 'Temptations' closing off a spectacular selection with a finesse-driven finale.

1FGRM005 (Grime)
Review: For their fifth grime project, the 1Forty team really have gone all out, inviting some of the most popular names in the 140 scene to take part in this monstrous selection of bangers. We begin with Hamdi's 'Raw', a behemoth of a riddim, dripping with vibrant LFO energies and skippy drum structures, closely followed by the lethal steppers link up from 9TRANE and Logan entitled 'Evil Side'. We move back into instrumental madness next as ManGo delivers an old school squarewave explosion entitled 'XO', before YGG leap onto an incredibly energetic piece of production from 'JHuttz' on 'Royals' to round this one off in style.

Street Dubs #2
Review: Two in two weeks? Yeah, why not. We return to Second To None here for the second edition of their 'Street Dubs' EP project, inviting the same cast of El Laurie, Hamdi and Vital Techniques in for a second round refill. We firstly check out the classic grimey flavours of 'Wet Up' from El Laurie, a nostalgic 2-steppy roller, packed with explosive horns and squarewave energy. Next, Hamdi continues down his unique dubstep-inspired path as the waspy tones of 'Wobbly' run riot, before label founders: Vital Techniques bring out the final piece of the puzzle with the abstract rhythms of 'Venom'.

Street Dubs #1
Review: It has been a brief minute since we took in a new drop from the Second To None team, but boy have they relaunched with a bang as we talk into three absolute heaters. Firstly, Brighton resident and rapidly rising DJ: El Laurie kicks us off, with his tight drum expressions and vibrant string work in 'Next Hour', before the chomping dubstep basslines of Hamdi's 'Caterpillar' roll into view, following on from an extremely popular Facebook reveal of the track. Finally, label head honchos: Vital Techniques grace us with the third original, another freezing 140 creation, built around shimmering arpeggios and 8bit drum switches!

Review: The Southpoint unit have had yet another sparkling year, with their sound constantly evolving at the forefront of UK bass music's ever expanding boundaries and parameters. This year they have taken it to the next level, with the seventh edition of their 'Southpoint Presents' series launching across all platforms, including bangers from the likes of KXVU, Jakebob, Bushbaby, Muttley, Moony, Mofaux, Dunman, Drax, Movement, Tengu and more. We also see Presents debuts for the likes of MPH, On1, Negativ and Daffy, arguably rendering their strongest compilation in the series.

Moony & Movement Presents
Various / Moony / Movement
Review: It's been a little while since we saw a release from the Brighton based giants at Southpoint, with their last full project coming at the beginning of December. They kick off the year in serious style here however as they deploy their fourth artist presents series, with local garage and funky gurus Moony & Movement at the header. We see debuts for Gru Var, Earthnut, Doctor Nick, Witchdoctor, Ali McK, IYZ and Lavz, with a string of regular Southpoint dons returning, including Eclypse, Hamdi and co-founder: KXVU. For us, the first stand out highlights on this release come from bassline wizard Pavv, who strips back his skippy groves for a UKG twist up in 'Dreams'. Out other stand out comes from recent addition to the team: RVB, who's 'Winter Carnival' original is bristling with spicy funky flavour.

5 Years Of In Flux Audio
Various
Played by: Tik&Borrow
Review: The guys at In:Flux really do deserve a lot of credit for their tireless contributions to the UK bass scene over the last few months, having made themselves one of the most prominent Northern imprints within the wide span of the genre. We are here to celebrate and enjoy this compilation celebrating five years of activity from the label. They pull out all the stocks for sure, inviting the likes of Brent Kilner, Pavv, Pelikann, Dr Oscillator, J69 and more to join in the party, with our specific highlights coming from Tik&Borrow themselves, the leading forces behind the project. We look forward to many more years of the In:Flux wave continuing to run!

Get Fluxed Volume IV
Various
Played by: Mr Brainz, Tik&Borrow
Review: As one of the most prominent labels in the UK Bass scene, In:Flux Audio have consistently delivered banging release after banging release, and the most recent edition of their 'Get Fluxed' compilation series shows they have no intention of stopping this trend. They bring some of their classic roster into the field of play as Pavv, Tengu, Zemon and Fiyahman all make return appearances. For us however the highlights lay in Hamdi's super groovy 'Zing Zoom Zoom', which channels vibrant bass instrumentation with super punchy drum riffs. Another instant favourite would have to be the speed garage inspired arrangement of 'Trigga Finga' from bassline high flyer Sekt-87 and In:Flux founders Tik&Borrow.

Pelikann Presents...
Various
Played by: Mr Brainz, Tik&Borrow
Review: Following Wolfe and Pavv, old bashy big beak Pelikann steps up for the new V/A compilation. Hand-picking his current floor-fired faves from the freshest of the forefront, highlights hurl and heave from every nook, crook and cranny. The brutal bombardment of WATSN's "123UH", the toxic slurry bass of Odd Nature's "Bait", the breakneck steps and broken glass bass of Brent Kilner's "Never See Me" are just some the rude, crude floor-punches... And that's before we get to Pelikann collaboration with with Tik&Borrow in the form of the sweary, bashy tribal slammer "Giv A Fuk". No zeroes... Only heroes. Big up Pelikann each and every.

Selection Box 2017
Various
Review: As a label and collection of artists, In:Flux have been consistently impressive for some years now and there are few ways better to summarize this than a compilation. This 13 track collection, entitled "Selection Box 2017" is bursting at the seams with bassy goodness. We see long term label favourites Palize and Tengu all make fantastic appearances as well as a few absolute heaters from Connerz, Zemon and the wonder kid of the moment: Hamdi. This release also features exclusive VIP mixes from Clean Shirt, Dr Oscillator and J69, making this a must grab for all 4x4 fans.

Get Fluxed Volume III
Various
Played by: In:flux Audio, Hadean
Review: Get Fluxed Volume III couldn't have come at a better time; the summer heat is out and these garage drums aren't exactly gonna play themselves now are they!? Featuring Martin McFly's infamous Nike spacers on the cover, this jam-packed comp of goodness features all of the label's biggest names and, of course, the creme-de-la-creme of UK house music. Sitting somewhere on the hardcore continuum between garage and breaks, the likes of Pharaoh K, Joedan, Pelikann and Krissi B, among others, set out what will surely be THE bass release of the summer in terms of DJ playback. This is the sort of gear you hear out on the beach at Pula's mighty Outlook festival. Sun's out, bass out.

Caution
Review: Brighton's Southpoint label, run by Josh Gunston and Jay McDougall, only deal in next level stuff. Hamdi is right up their street: a producer who refuses to accept the rules of traditional bass music. Here he introduces us to three of the freshest electronic dance jams around. The title track kicks things off in fine style - all erratic stop-start footwork rhythms and off kilter mangled bass. Also Moony takes it into sparse 2 step territory whilst "Tengu" makes it all speedy and paranoid. Elsewhere "Dizzy" is a blistering 4 x 4 attack and "Fierce" is a merciless techno-bass meltdown. Boom!
