Review: MinimalRome has had a constant presence over Italy and indeed Europe's electronic scene over the last ten years, featuring everyone from Legowelt to The Hacker in their lustrous catalogue. For their latest outing, the imprint has called Heinrich Dressel, Francesco Clemente and Alessandro Parisi to inject some of their much coveted deviance for the Il Faro compilation. The first five tracks feature Clemente's cold and crystalline bundles of drones, where the icy cool of the night air is palpable upon first listen. It's almost like AFX's Ambient Works, albeit less subtle throughout, opting instead for more immediate kicks. Alessandro Parisi features once on "A Signal From The North", a piece which could have easily featured on 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the rest is left to Heinrich Dressel, who quickly installs his familiar yet ever-unpredictable infusions of sonics. Impressive.
