Review: Originally released back in 2012, Tuscany's Bosconi Extra Virgin reissues Herva's Meanwhile In Madland - finally in digital format. Apparently growing up on a steady diet of R&B and hip-hop, Herve Atse Corti discovered IDM and set to work on his laptop. However, this opus' collection of hazy tracks incorporate more organic and soulful elements that fit into the label's modus operandi of 'rich hand-crafted house music, unique downtempo beats and all the moods in between'. From the trip-hop inspired title track, the lush new-age dub techno of "My Mono Relax", the urban flavour of "Breathe!" and the evocative/esoteric deep house of "Triangle" Corti certainly served up an impressive debut, that still sounds as fresh as it did nearly six years ago.

Smania
Smania - (4:50) 94 BPM
Review: Dublin label All City present some wack electronics by Florence based Herva, who has released on homeboys Bosconi in addition to Delsin, Planet Mu and Kontra Musik. The label best describes this album as 'chopped and bemused electronics from an Italian beat randomiser: true that! There's some warped and intense breakbeat action on "Smania" while the noisy and industrial "Wavtobin" rinses out metallic textures over lush pads and emotive elements. Finally "Afro Sweep" is a jagged and angular experiment in pop deconstruction which is truly infectious. Inventive grooves on offer here from a talented young producer. Highly recommended.

Review: At a time when so many of its early contemporaries are rarely seen releasing these days, Planet Mu's 20th anniversary is even more of a cause de celebre. The powerhouse of uncompromising leftfield electronic music has pulled no punches when it comes to commemorating the time, drawing on the staggering roster including Kuedo, Remarc, Traxman, Falty DL, Machinedrum, Milanese, Vex'd, Neil Landstrumm and so very many more besides, bringing together tracks from the vaults, from forgotten times, some of which have never previously seen the light of day. With 50 tracks to delve into, this is enough of an education to school even the most learned mind.
