Review: HOLDTight, a Paris-based purveyor of "late-night Balearic grooves, erotic soundtracks and hot reworks", steps up with four reworks of vintage gems here. At least, that's what the title suggests, though we have to confess the source material has us beat, so hats off to him for digging nice and deep! 'Disco Ladies' and 'Reach Out' bring the disco/boogie vibes, 'Everytime' has a rawer, funkier, jazzier feel and the lower-paced 'My Cool Lady' is one for the smoochers box, making this a useful package all round, with 'Disco Ladies' leading the charge for yours truly.

Review: The first four volumes in the Hot'n'Spicy series came from label head HOLDTight, AKA Fabrice Pinori, a Paris-based producer and re-editor specialising in "psychedelic and Balearic disco," but on this V/A outing he shares the helm with some fellow hardcore vinyl botherers. Whether these are original productions or re-edits is hard to say but Eddie C's 'Big City Freak' is a low-slung disco/funk workout, Paul Older's '7 Days & 7 Nights' is a more uptempo disco romp, HOLDTight's own 'Afrodisiaa' is an Afro-infused funk jam with squelch by the bucketload and finally Bill Brewster's 'Love Easy' drops down into hazy, druggy ALFOS-ish territory.

Review: If warming, glassy-eyed midtempo disco niceness is your thing, we'd heartily recommend this languid, sun-drenched edits offering from the Too Slow To Disco camp. It's packed to the rafters with toasty, afternoon-ready fare that's arguably best listened to while decked out in boat shoes, pastel-coloured shorts and a stripy t-shirt. HOLDTight steps up first with the head-nodding, saucer-eyed shuffle of future yacht disco classic 'Be My Love 2Nite', before Delfonic offers up a fine rearrangement of an obscure, breathy and seductive disco gem full of prominent Moog synth sounds, jaunty pianos and whispered vocals. 'Jorge's Pipa' by Jack Tennis is a fine, floor-friendly tweak of a disco-era Brazilian gem, while Those Guys From Athens' '4 Your Love' is a seductive disco slow jam straight from the top shelf.

Review: As with many previous releases, the latest Chopshop Digital release is an all-star affair, with contributions from a quartet of re-edit talents. Ghosts of Venice step up first, skillfully re-arranging the delightfully camp and synthesizer-heavy, Italo-disco delight that is "Time & Space". HOLDTight do a good job adding some contemporary slow-house flavour to Jones Girls' classic "Nights Over Egypt", before Glintelletuali (try saying that after a few stiff drinks) offers up the throbbing, shirts-off, Italo-goes-to-Spain romp that is "Il Valeiro". Finally, Le Visiteur presents "The Player", a rising and falling disco-house chugger that boasts some seriously epic breakdowns and drops.
