Review: The Vision Recordings crew have once again unearthed a weighty box of gems with this new three tracker, seeing the combined powers of both Machinedrum & Holly for a dive into steppers abandon. We open up with the crunchy synth warbles and unorthodox vocal work of 'Novaform', a truly unique arrangement that packs both a subby gut punch and a midrange hook to match. Next, 'Blueshift' strips the instrumentation back a tad for a more fluttery original, focussing on emotive melodies and clicky percussion, before the sounds of 'Hide Sun' arrive for one final showdown, delivering a choppy, jungle-inspired slammer, doused in euphoric pad textures and tidy sampling for a killer final slap. Reading like a who's who in innovative production, the collection ranges from utter gutter-chomping filth from the likes of S Murk and Monuman to hurricane sonics by the likes of Current Value and Forbidden Society. Special moments can be found on each and every twist and turn the collection takes from UFO and Bro Safari's brand new project ET Finger to the new technoid inspired alias of Hybris - Pruvan. Absolutely sublime; here's to more future Missions.

Review: Vision are just full of surprises right now. Straight off the back of Noisia's "Armajet" OST comes this gully-AF quartet from Machinedrum and EDM/trap producer Holly. Neither artist is known for making drum & bass (although you can hear elements of it in many of their past productions) but it sounds like they've been bending breaks at 170 forever. From the rave tension of "Berry Patch" to the glacial textures and experimentalism of "Bramble" to the underwater Rockwell soul "Goji" and the Salvador Dali style bass of "Yangmei", this is the absolute business.

Review: The Division label is back and utterly 'up for it' with this second instalment of the Partial series, a corner of the label dedicated to bringing you the very hardest in dubstep vibes; strangely enough, this seems like a bit of a rarity these days! Woolymammoth's opener "Prasak" sets us up for some seriously hard beatings, which is exactly what "Visor" by Holly & Former delivers on. Revazz's "Voltaic" is a slower, more menacing bass mutant, which is not something that can be said about "High Risers" from Proxima...an impressively off-kilter number with some nutty percussion swings. "Shocking Element" by Subp Yao & Razat goes off on a broken beat tangent, and The Outsiders' "Radar Signal" offers the nearest interpretation of future grime on this whole EP. Blinding bass bombs!
