Review: HumaNature is another one of the many young, rising talents within the D&B scene at the moment and he's a producer with an undeniable capacity for diversity. First coming to the fore with smooth liquid tones, he's recently been proving that he goes darker and this EP is no exception. Teaming up with long-time producer buddies and long-time label Fokuz, HumaNature & Friends is some of his best work yet and it covers both sides of the spectrum. 'Roll' featuring Radicall is the highlight of the EP, with gorgeously vibrant percussion that injects a tangible sense of presence and a bassline that swells in tandem, a track that smacks of proper D&B. 'Xylophone' featuring Critical Event & Askel is equally weighty, with a driving back end that matches its stellar production line up. This is a top-notch release.
Review: As soothing as it is dancefloor-perfect, "Don't Take it Away" is the first tune to grace this beauty of an EP, given up by Portuguese producer HumaNature. Rolling out an uplifting vibe, he sets the stage for his duet with Silence Groove "Just A Thought" which snips out hip-hop samples and jazz piano for a patchwork of inspiring influences. Partnering with Kalum for this track "Soul Revival" there's a retro liquid sound at work here, bringing back memories of d&b summers past. Finally a crisp stepper pushes on with help from Leeds-based maestro Colossus, "Nothing" swirls and spins with fizzing atmospherics and gorgeous vocal sampling adding some welcome wide-open atmosphere to proceedings. Excellent pairings from an exciting upcoming talent.
Review: Frenetic and fun D&B from Soul Deep's fresh newcomers Humanature and J Logic, first track "Get Ya Down" revels in the sun-drenched sound of Brazil. Large and overflowing with jazzy breaks, this EP is exactly what's needed for a mid-week chill. Not to say this isn't prime dancefloor material - if you're looking for soulful, high-energy tunes made to get folks moving, you've come to the right place. With moments of pensiveness snatched in-between big, rolling waves of liquid sunshine, there's no way you could have a bad time listening to this. It's an instant mood lifter.
Review: Fokuz is without a doubt one of the best labels in the game, their diversity alone places them right at the top of the metaphorical leader board and nothing exemplifies this better than their Collaborations series. Featuring a litany of artists across almost as many styles, including Molecular, ALB, Critical Event and more, putting this third instalment up there with the others. Molecular's 'What Defines' is darker than what Fokuz is known for and it just absolutely slams the whole way, a proper minimal roller with tonnes of character and more than a little charm. The first track on the album, it sets the tone for the rest nicely.
