Review: This is Hush & Sleep's third release on Etruria Beat, and as its title suggests, is an emotional, banging EP. The title track is a peak-time number where buzz saw bass and pounding kicks provide the backdrop for the pair to conjure up a dramatic, string-led melodic sequence. On "Martyr", the Dutch duo take inspiration from hardcore influences, with cheeky 'drop the midrange' vocal samples fused with euphoric filters. Meanwhile, "Origen" sees them head down a darker path, as a juggernaut rhythm provides the basis for screeching sirens and razor sharp percussion. "Elyon" returns to the mood that started this emotional release, drawing on 90s trance melodies for an epic finale.

Review: The latest EP on Luca Agnelli's label is called Mirth, but probably a better title would have been "euphoria". The title track, by Dutch duo Hush & Sleep, sounds inspired by 90s trance-techno, with rich, layered chords surging and building over a tough, rhythmic backing. "Hysteria" was probably inspired by similar records, but on this occasion, the pair give their sound a more contemporary flavour by using tough dub beats and a pounding rhythm. The result is not radically dissimilar to Inigo Kennedy's work for Token. The label has also commissioned two remixes; the Farrago take on the title track is a more linear affair, revolving around tough drums and doubled-up claps, while Marco Effe takes "Hysteria" down a dark, driving techno route its trance melodies absent.

Review: Selected by label owner Ilario Alicante, this split release mines an underground but refreshingly diverse path. Hush & Sleep's "Perceptual Isolation" is a tough, acid-soaked pulser that rolls deep. There are no such niceties on SLV's "Meteor", a propulsive affair that resounds to rolling drums, tough kicks, lone bleeps and a ponderous vocal sample. On "Tentacles", the contribution from Maxime Dangles, a frazzled 303 and fuzzy bass intersect to create a sound not radically different to Sandwell District, while ZIPPO's track is more straightforward. "The Leopard Prey" is heavy, panel-beating techno, led by doubled up claps, steely kicks and discordant riffs.
