Review: Next:Gen Audio continue living up to their name with this stunning VA EP that's bursting with new generation talent. Magenta, HYDRO, Junger and 7Age have all showed serious skills in recent years and now they're here together on this beautiful summer-inspired session. Magenta shows off his soulful side with the piano-tickling 'Everything' while HYDRO gets on some sexy 23rd century RnB swag with 'Freaky'. Elsewhere Junger goes on a wonderful dreamy trip with 'Making Something' before 7Age flips the sweet switch on 'I Won't Run' with a powerful emotional finale. Sun's out, guns out!
Review: Batton down the hatches! Belgian badsmiths Deep Quake Music curate their first VA, it features a supreme rollcall of new-gen jump-up talent and it's an all-out attack of the senses from the start to finish. Highlights include the utter gutter chomping filth of Machine Attax's 'The Crocodile', the wild euphoric rush of Smoggy's 'Feel Like Nothing' , the trippy springy bounce and cool halftime switch of 'Undefined Inception' and Master Error's absolutely outrageous twist on Owls Of Filth's 'Proliferate'. That's just the tip of this grotty, stinking iceberg... Quake up and smell the coffee!
Review: We're pleased to bringing you this pack of drum driven weight as the epic trio of DLR, Hydro and WAR who combine courtesy of Sofa Sound for a bass heavy showdown. The first of the two tracks involved is a certified roller by the name of 'Not Too Late'. This one is packed to the brim with lethal electronic synth expanses and drum designs. On the flip, the pressure doesn't let up as 'Trick' strips the compositional styles back into a super groovy bag of creativity, with original synthetic sounds flying left right and centre. Excellent work!
Review: Long standing Bristol repper Hydro continues his thirst-quenching sub assault with three shadowy collaborative rollers. Drenched in mood, "Film Noir" is as smoky as a stressed out Sam Spade. "Mistrust" cuts through the haze with steppier, pneumatic beats that perforate the iced out pads in the background. Finally "Ephemeral" is all sub, kicks and rattling snares. The louder you play it, the better it gets.
Review: A magnificent meeting of minds here as Hydro and Halogenix (fresh from his three way collab with Sabre and Stray "Oblique") team up for another super smart release on Horizons Music. "Disillusioned" is dominated by a weighty, penetrating b-line which lurks below the crisp percussion and snapping breaks, with ominous fury. Deep, dark and menacing, this one's for the heads. Named after a town in Northern Italy on the border with Croatia, "Trieste" builds from a glimmering, spaced out, atmospheric intro into a stripped back piece of experimentalism. Sparse beats and rumbling subs are order of the day, with percussive ticks and rolling atmospheric sweeps.
