Review: When you see these two entities next to each other on a line up, it makes immediate sense both visually and sonically, as Hypho lands on Time Is Now for a sizzling four track dive. We begin with the old school LFO flutters and scattered patois vocal spreads of 'London Tower Blocks 94', which gives us an old school feel from the jump, followed by an even moodier rethink from Interplanetary Criminal, delivering a high octane overhaul directly after. From here, Logan arrives for some additional vocal pressure on 'None Of Them', another grizzly garage steppers, laying the way for a killer finale in 'Get Bun'. This one is a serious throwback, as tense string lines, choppy vocals and more scrumptious LFO lines give us a perfect outro.

Review: What an awesome link up we have here, diving headfirst into the tranquil waters of abstractivity on Deep Dark & Dangerous, who welcome the top notch combination of Hypho, Abstrakt Sonance & Megumi Hope inside for a saucy selection of trippy originals. The main centrepiece of this EP is of course the blissful vocal prowess of Megumi Hope, who opens up the party with a wistful sweeping performance on 'My Mind', behind which we of course hear the production-lead genius of Hypho & Sonance ring true, Next 'What Is Freedom' explores more eastern-inspired percussive melodies and an overall more unpredictable feel from Hypho & Sonance's production pallet, with 'Brave' then being a more triplet-inspired rhythmic roller, focusing on sitar-driven harmonies to match. Finally, the slightly slowed drumlines and more ethereal backdrops of 'Maya' give us a ghostly closer, rounding off this awesome collection in style.

Review: To start the year off with a bang the Deep Dark & Dangerous crew have pulled out all the stops with this latest drop, welcoming the enigmatic production mastery of Hypho inside for a sizzling six track showdown. The Manchester veteran firstly launches 'Access Denied', a crunchy steppers delight, unleashing tidy drum processing and hard hitting bass action, before Rakjay arrives with a typically tidy vocal addition of 'That Vibration', a swampy slap that will turn any dance to a ruckus. Next, Donnie Danko jumps aboard for the haunted backdrops and lethal low-ends of 'Voodoo Ish', with the bubbling melodic jolts and subtle subby warbles of 'Dingle Bat' following in close pursuit. To round off, two more heavyweight hitters, with the wonky marches and dubby delays of 'Wrong Turn' leading the way before Megumi arrives on 'The End' for a sumptuous soundscape display, giving us a look into Hypho's more emotional side for a signature send off.

Review: You can always rely on the Duploc team to deliver on the big stage, with this latest collection seeing them continue their 'BLXCK TXPES' series into its second edition. Featuring 8 hardy originals, the roster is truly stacked with talent, with the likes of ENiGMA Dubz, 11th Hour, Pushloop, Hypho and more veterans all making themselves known, next to a couple of very tidy original creations from Chef Boyarbeatz and DubDiggers / 207. Our two highlights come from right at the top of the project, with Hamdi's 'Skanka' being one of the most sought after 140 originals of 2022 and Lost's 'Level Up', being an irresistible swampy roller. The whole collection however just oozes quality and is another emphatic victory for one of the most consistent 140 outlets out there.

Review: Through his numerous different avenues of musical influence, it's hard to stay away from the incredible progression we have been seeing from Hypho, who here takes a trip across the sea for a naughty four track display on Deep Dark & Dangerous. From the off we can tell we are in for a serious treat with this one as we firstly jump into 'Dust Of The Devil', inside which Hypho deploys a lethal selection of potent bass designs and sharpened drum textures for the fantastic Slowie to run wild over. From here, 'Dirty Water' provides a system-ready combo of punchy kick-sub combos for Strategy to provide the vocal fire, followed by the swampy textures of 'Sufferin', alongside a stunning vocal display from the magnificent 'Megumi'. Finally, Xakra & Finnoh join the party for the marching kick bounces and intense sublines of 'Stellar Transit', which rounds this top notch selection off with a serious bang.

Review: Louis Richardson's music under the Hypho moniker is giving us hope that perhaps, somewhere out there, there exists the right sort of energy to prolong the so-called 'hardcore continuum' into the next decade. He's up on the excellent Four40 with the lead track "Minzu", a rough and heavy bass swelter back by the grimey hip-hop vocals of MC Pen, and together they duo conjure up a fine UK-leaning bit of gun-fingering. "Anahbell" is the broken part of the EP, the classic UK B-side that'll have the heads vibing real nice - picture a good old injection of Mala bass on some serious downers. Heavy.

Review: Now we have been big fans of Infernal Sounds here at JunoDownload for a hot minute, so when we saw they had enlisted the assistance of two of the most consistent dubstep dons out there in Hypho & Abstrakt Sonance, we were filled with joy. This collaborative masterclass in dungeon-applicable bass design is a sonic episode you won't want to miss, kicking off with 'Bad Talk' a sub-shivering combination of dubwise drum delays and sweeping bass action. Next, prepare to lose all sense of time and space as the scattered rhythms and downright dissonant 8bit blasts of 'Nintendo' send your synapses completely sideways. To round off, Rakjay joins the pair for a lively vocal display on 'Take It Or Leave It', which provides us with a darkened outro, complete with a dancefloor ready VIP mix for good measure!

Review: Wheel & Deal are at it again, this time welcoming the Mancunian dubstep veteran sounds of Hypho inside for four rave-ready sizzlers. We begin with the bubbling 808 bass bounces and shimmering synthetics of 'Muharib Skank', a worthy title track dripping in mystic swagger from start to finish. From here, 'Affektion' delivers a much more stripped back combination of bright synthetics and clicky percussive twitches, before amplifying those themes further with the emotive melodies and melancholic sound design of 'Moody Marge'. Finally, we return to the system for the dripping sounds of 'MS20 Skank', driving forward with pulsating sub action and haunting vocal work to see out the project in style.

Review: The run that the Manuka brand has been on over the last 2 years has been nothing short of excellent, with this latest offering from head honcho: Hypho and the explosive production techniques of Chef Boyarbeatz giving us three new spicy rollers. First up, an absolute devastator of an anthem from the pair as 'Smokers Club' sees a lethal combination of writhing LFO sweeps and hard hitting sublines deployed for a legendary combination. Next, Hypho steps out on solo duty for the warbling swampy subs of 'Akanum', giving us a slightly different feeling, before the dungeon-heavy epic of 'SELECTAH' sees Chef Boyarbeatz deliver a spine-tingling display. Review: Manuka have been on smoke across their last few releases, with this new offering seeing one of their founders: Hypho return to action with a breaks infused bass-driven masterclass, alongside the productive power of Felixculpah. First up, a shimmering fusion of stuttering drum lines and gnarly sub structures in 'Hostile', a highly energetic title track this is sure to ramp up the intensity of any dancefloor, before the blipping arpeggios of 'Unknown Code' are unleashed in a blaze of braggadocious bass goodness. Next, the bubbling percussive flutters of 'Unilateral Possession' are brought forward, adding another dimension of acidic uniqueness to this already stacked selection, with the slower, more 2-steppy tumbles of 'Shukk' then closing things out in style.

Review: It's always a lively event when Manuka come to town, this time welcoming a vibrant collaboration indeed as head-honcho Hypho links up with both PAV4N and the Foreign Beggars flag for a seriously gnarly creation, throwing us back to the 2010's in sound and style. Hypho does the business with a properly gritty instrumental creation, driving forward with hypnotic tripletted bass stabs and churning synthetic layers doing the business, with a combination of harsh vocal slides and intense lyricism then adding an extra level of enjoyment to the table. A very good single indeed from the Manuka camp!

This latest drop sees him explore his dubstep-inspired roots, firstly with the demonic choir backdrops and heavily delayed drum-racks of 'Higher Calibre', which hits the spot perfectly for an EP opener. Next, the plucked melodic switch ups and colourful harmonic layers of 'Soft Like Glue' give the EP a more delicate feel, showcasing the emotional side of his production arsenal. Review: We've known for a minute that Manuka is one of the real hot spots for genuinely innovative electronic flavour, with this new 'Decades' compilation EP being another great example of that mantra in action. Kicking off with the jittering vocal slices and smooth breaks of Sinic's 'RBF9', we can tell we are already in for a treat, followed closely by the mellow atmospherics and spacey textures of Doc Zee's 'Vibes' and the pure euphoria of Hypho and Megumi Hope's breaksy 'Feel You' original. We then dive into the trippy acidic zones of L=Pad & Jasehip as they unleash the blippy masterclass of '303Bot', before closing the EP off with the super unpredictable rhythms and eerie textures of Canaan's 'Energy Stream' alongside Jules. Fantastic work as per!

We begin our dive with a look at the twisted percussive manoeuvres and aquatic atmospheric pressures of 'Guilty' from Biome, before we recognize Rakjay's catchy vocal additions over the fluttering arpeggios of 'Lowe It', produced by label founder: Hypho. From here we move into Ternion Sound's contribution in 'There Is A Cost', a sweeping breaksy display of power, before Xakra unleashes his synthetic wonders on 'Some Of Us' to see the EP out in style.

Review: The Encrypted Audio team have been putting together some outstanding drops across the breadth of 2020, with this new six track system-buster being another example of just how strong their catalogue has become. This extensive compilation brings together the very best of their recent releases into one handy pile, with the likes of Hypho, DubApe, Ekula, Hunter Reed & BSay providing the goods. When laid down next to each other, we do notice a couple of clear standouts, with Hypho & Logan_olm's 'Badman Tune' being an incredibly catchy techy roller, alongside the system shaking bass notation and sweeping atmospheric pressure of 'Emparedado' from BSay. It shows just how well they have done over the last few months and we absolutely love to see it!

Review: We'll just go ahead and call it here: "Not That Safe" is Hypho's best production yet! Super heavy and super deep with a blasting kick drum that sounds more like an oversized powderkeg being thrown off a building, its circulating loop only adds to the epic, free flowing spirale of this track and its spacious, left-to-right percussion. Review: As ever, Hypho has arrived with an incredible amount of style and flare with this one as he returns to his home label of Manuka for a spicy four track selection, pulling together the combined forces of four top production names for a sensational collaborative project. We begin our look at this one with Sumgii's insertions on 'Gold Metal', a low riding sizzler, driven by it's unusual drum allocations and slower tempo. Next, MR.K arrives for his additional inputs on 'Suss', another slower roller, glued together with metallic snare hits and dreamy synthesizer wafts, before 'Freeze' delivers a monstrously powerful arrangement, skippy as you like and featuring the handy work of Opus. Finally, 'Etiquette' sees Rygby make the final appearance with some very powerful sub pulses and an overall haunted tone, rounding off this excellent body of work in style.

Review: Manchester artist Hypho hooks up with fellow UK compatriot Boime for a double drop of heavy dubstepping vibes for Manuka. The record itself sounds like it comes from the deep, dark and cold confines of a disused powerplant, with the lead track fizzing with alien synths, atonal keys and kick drums replete with an uncanny assortment of distorted atmospheres to boot. Tribal atmospheres make their way into "Deform", a deadly alternative for the more serious and industrial ends of the night. Not to be missed alongside Hypho's most recent Round Ere three-track for Loefah's Swamp81 imprint. Serious shit.

Review: The Encrypted Audio camp have always held an extremely high standard a label project. This is a trend with most certainly continues in style as they bring in Manchester's dub specialist Hypho for a sumptuous four track bonanza. First we look at 'Guillotine' which brings aquatic rhythms together with 8 bit sound design for a exciting outing. Following this, 'Blazed' and 'Narrow' provide more of the same flavours with engulfing subs running riot amidst powerful drumlines. Finally, the unpredictable bass movements and shuffled chops of 'Rotten Milk' finish up the project with a bang, rounding off an impressive body of work.

Review: An absolute leviathan of a compilation from Project Allout here, and it's just in time for some Christmas cheer from one of the fastest growing UK bass hubs in the game! A tad packed for us to go through it all, but this is guaranteed quality, especially given the fact that the release features plenty of label regulars, new faces and even some pretty incredible cameo appearances from the likes of Caspa, Deadbeat and Dubzta. Each puts in a fine performance, particularly Deadbeat with his "Street Life" cut, a glorious mashup of funky house breaks and wobbled low-end. Be sure to check the licks from Spooky, Mr Dubzta and Tuff Culture, too. Badman vibes and another stunner from Project Allout.

Review: Next up from the BLXCK TXPES team, a tidy team-up between two of the most potent names in dubstep right now, welcoming Hypho & MYTHM for a fiery display. We open up with the grizzly reeses and slang-driven vocal samples of 'Blud Red', a gnarly introduction that sets the tone nicely, before the more eerie atmospheric arrangements of 'Questions' give us more LFO-driven design. From here, the shuffling drum steps and constantly shaking percussive slithers of 'Stress' give us a syncopated party piece, with Logan then arriving for a hard hitting vocal on 'Shatta', a metallic monster, focussing on more of those lethal synth lines. Finally, 'Gunahngi' lets loose a dizzying display of wonky drum rhythms and alarm-like bass textures, closing the project off in style!

Review: Second To None Music have chosen the right name for their label. These guys should not be underestimated, and their output is among the best UK bass, garage and funky that we have heard recently. This statement compilation is simply putting them on a lot of people's radars, and getting the to know that absolutely nobody at their HQ is messing around when it comes to relaxing fresh bangers for the UK's dance floors. The music is wild and diverse, ranging from pure bassline to UK funky, and there are certainly plenty of noticeable artists and known faces here, including neb-dancehall specialist Deadbeat, Mikey B, B Squared, and Hypho. If you're into the British way of doing house, then this twist up will surely satisfy.

Review: Of late Louis Richardson aka bass hero Hypho has started to including two new tracks per release, a sign he's getting more prolific. On the "Hyper EP" we get the smokin', tokin' half-time title track that boasts some urban cred courtesy of Haribou's low-key rap. "Ekko" meanwhile is more your traditional dubstep but with added mechanical intricacies. Remix-wise Vital Techniques perk things up with some steppy dub vibes and Smoked Out Fox delivers the EP highlight - all dark bass throbs and knife-like hi-hats.

Review: As far as labels go, there aren't many who have been floating around the bass music scene for as long as Future Follower Records. It seems that they have a point to prove here as they unveil an absolute goliath of a project, featuring fifty stunning original creations, packing a perfectly processed punch to round out 2019. The project as a whole finds itself landing between bass, breaks and garage, with some incredibly catchy productions involved, including Dephex's warbling 'Warfare', the super metallic shuffles inside the Bean VIP mix of 9TRANE's 'Heard Me' and the bass blasts of DubReaper's 'Ask Me'. There is something for everyone on this massive selection, giving the Future Follower camp a perfect send off to 2019.

Review: For those who don't know, Hypho is a rising talent in the bass game and his quest to reach the top level has gotten closer thanks to this latest injection of low frequencies for the 877 label. "Wartime" is the perfect lead tune, a string-led pseudo grime instrumental with a perfectly executed percussive rhythm, and "Pinch" follows a similar path thanks to its slithering beats. There is a collaboration with Squane on "Hack", a futuristic grime roller with a mean collection of beats and hollow melodies, which is followed by Majora's remix of "Wartime", a more uplifting version of the tune, and a Vital Techniques reinterpretation of "Pinch". Smoking bangers guaranteed!

Review: Well well well, what a link up we have here as two of the most consistent forces that operate in that tasty space between dubstep and techno join forces, namely Hypho and eatmybeat. We kick off this absolute winner of an EP by seeing the ever-ready Magugu land for a super rhythmic vocal appearance on 'Flava', which itself combines dungeon-like percussion with warbling subs for a smooth experience. Next, 'Hidden' deploys some incredibly potent drum work below a hypnotic pad and synth combo, giving us a refreshing look at the 130 sound, before Rakjay delivers a top quality vocal performance on 'Respek The History', a worthy title track indeed. Finally, Doctor Jeep arrives to send 'Hidden' to the 2-step blender, bringing a groovy end to this wicked body of work.

Review: As one of the most rapidly rising projects out of Bristol right now, we were thrilled to see the CNCPT Collective team link up with the ever ready sounds of Hypho, who unleashes a tonne of dubstep-ready heat on this one. We kick off with the sumptuous bass tones of the title track 'Revenge Porn' before 'Terps' rolls into play, acting as a perfect glitchy base from which T-Man is allowed to let loose his punchy vocal presence. Finally, 'Fake Ass Thugs' lands and smacks us in the face. We feel honestly that this as an individual compilation is one of the most powerful pieces of music Hypho has ever created, packed with eerie spaces and sharp percussive crunches. It's just so damned tasty!

Review: It's been a while since we heard of such a match made in heaven as this as we see Manchester's Hypho touch down on the legendary 81 UK for four tracks off pure bass-driven class. We kick off with a potent collaboration with BeatBoss champion Rakjay, who delivers some wicked vocal leads on the moody 'Round Ere', followed by the eerie bass tonality of 'Yinliao'. Next, Rakjay returns again on vocal duty, bringing poetic twists above a fantastic arrangement of subtle sub expansions and rolling drumwork on 'Graft', which is chased up by the crunchy tech infused breaks of 'Module', rounding this one up in style.

Review: Inspired by the lack of pigeonholing in today's bassline scene, the much respected Low Pitched have rustled up their first album, Low Pitched Presents: Resonate, which aims to capture this aforementioned musical diversity. They haven't held back either, packing a whopping 23 new jams on this album, truly laying claim to having all bases covered. Highlights include the juddering low-end juggernaut "Patterns" by Clexx, the crisp, floating in space 2-stepper "Rowdy" and the truly next level, otherworldly rhythms of "Swedger" by Sketchman. Review: It's a new year, and it's time for some new imprints. That's the way we operate. Jelly Bean Farm is among the labels to launch in 2017 but, while others would think of pacing themselves with a debut EP, these guys have gone and dropped a whole compilation of new, unforgiving bass science from all corners of the extended genre. There are twelve killer cuts to choose from here, all from emergent talents, and we've got our eyes set on a number of them. Hypho's "Majikk" is a glorious neo-grime workout that stretches the genre to the very limits, "Pistol Signal" from Opus is a bubbling, potent new strain of hydro-phonic dubstep, PAN:INC's "Freight" is the sort of techno that any bass-boy dreams at night, and Sensei's "Reed" manages to blur the most daring elements of jungle and minimal techno together as if they were made to be one and one. Check it all out, though, this is a true goldmine of all things bass-oriented. Watch out for more Jelly Bean Farm gear.

Review: Manchester party turned label - Left, Right, & Centre - drops its second release for 2020 with this Right Place, Wrong Time VA. Taking in some heavy beats, sirens and industrial adage from Craig Walker, find techier rhythms and sci-fi atmospheres in Hypho's urban-centric "We Run The City". Providing this EP with its strongest experimental edge is the gurgling and tripped-out percussive sequences by Everett (tip!) while heavy hitter Kessler drops in with some wub-wub and gun clacks in the supremely bass menacing "Glick Glock".
