Speedball
Speedball (Severe Itching mix) - (4:22) 123 BPM
Speedball (Whizbang mix) - (5:55) 123 BPM
Speedball (Arse Hat edit) - (6:21) 123 BPM Hot
Speedball (Loose Cannon) - (5:04) 120 BPM
Review: More from the Idjuts on their recently relaunched Droid imprint, which primarily exists to showcase the more electronic and off-kilter end of their production output. In its' EP-opening 'Full Whip' version, 'Speedball' is a genuinely analogue-rich throb-job, with Gary Numan style synthesizer melodies and vintage electronic sounds - many doused in the duo's usual tape echo and dub delay - rising above a throbbing, 140 BPM new wave groove. The accompanying suite of remixes and revisions is predictably eclectic and, for the most part, fiendishly out-there in the best possible ways. Our current faves include the creepy, mind-mangling, far-out techno of the 'Severe Itching Mix', the dubbed-out and decidedly intergalactic 'Arse Hat Edit', and the typically, deep, brain-melting dub disco of the 'Loose Cannon' mix.

Schlagstock - (5:54) 121 BPM
Schlagstock (Vacant Gaze version) - (4:12) 121 BPM
Review: The Idjut Boys have decided to relaunch their long-dormant Droid imprint, a label founded to explore the more acid house and machine music end of their output. 'Dumme Willie', the cut they've chosen to kick-start the label's new era, is a genuinely mind-altering throb job: a stripped-back workout in which a delay-laden drum machine rhythm and space echo-doused percussion hits combine brilliantly with a heavy, arpeggio style bassline, psychedelic TB-303 acid lines and druggy riffs that sound like they were inspired by Rinder & Lewis's legendary disco-era cover of 'Willie and the Hand Jive'. It comes backed with a fabulous 'drum version' - a delay-heavy proto house rhythm track - and two versions of the similarly minded, Italo-influenced 'Schlagstock'. The 'Vacant Gaze' version, a particularly spaced-out drum dub, is spectacularly good.

The Sound Of Mercury Rising Compiled With Love By DJ Harvey
Dj Harvey / Various
Rheinzand - "Like Before" - (8:44) 120 BPM
Blue Camera - "Golden War" (extended version) - (6:15) 123 BPM
Review: In 2015 DJ Harvey made his hugely anticipated return to Ibiza and made Pikes the home for his Mercury Rising debut, a concept inspired by the beauty of the real Ibiza, the incredible history of the hotel (aka The Chelsea of Ibiza) and a genuine love for music. This Balearic spirit perfectly and poetically encapsulated by DJ Harvey has seen Mercury Rising widely recognised as the most special night to embrace the island in over a decade. The next step in the story sees him launch Pikes Records - the first record label founded by Pikes owners and Ibiza Rocks co-founders Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle. From his own Locussolus project's slow burner "Next To You" (Marcy Rising edit), to fellow London disco heroes Idjut Boys who serve up "One For Kenny" where they get really deep. There's also party favourite Gatto Fritto with "Invisible College" and Eric 'Dr. Dunks' Duncan, on form as always, with Chris Munoz on the scorcher "Zona De Perigo".
