Review: As a label, Crucast have gone from strength to strength, rapidly establishing themselves as one of the premiere platforms for bass music in the UK. This complication marks that out perfectly with an astonishing selection of over 30 original creations, featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Jaguar Skills, Brent Kilner, Pavv, TC4, Inkline, Deadbeat UK and a tonne more. For us the EP highlights the strength in the current UK bass scene, with favourites being Bushbaby & Hadean's long-awaited collaboration release 'Clean Up', the monstrous swinging synths of Tengu's 'Weapon' and of course the wonky wonderings of SaidWho's 'Voices', a truly original compositional idea, focussing on rawcus bass sounds and scattered drum selections.

Review: As two of the standout acts to release projects across 2018, we are sure Punks are very excited to be welcoming back both Inkline and Taiki Nulight, who get together on some heavyweight business across two originals here. We begin with looking into Inkline's solo original and title track 'Take Me Out'. This one is a twisted ball of unorthodox synth distortion and broken beat rhythms, perfectly capturing Inkline's signature style. On the flip side, carnage breaks lose and Taiki Nulight jumps into the frame on 'FR'. What an absolute madness this original is as the pair bring a combination of metallic bass twists and unpredictable drum lines with outstanding results.

Southpoint alumni Inkline makes his Punks debut with this fugly broken drum fusion where the riff is saying UKG, the groove screams house while the percussive textures have a touch of the technoid to their flavour. Swaggering with a powerful breaks push, it ticks so many boxes four box factories have started business in the UK since Inkline made this record. Aurbs remix needs a strong-armed salute and all; rolling and sinister it suddenly drops into a jazz feel that's so deft you won't even realise your trousers have fallen down. On point.

Review: Southpoint centrefold Inkline returns with three more blistered bass workouts. It's clear from the moment the fractured beats of "Gentlemen" kick off he's taking care of business: popping, groaning and rolling, "Gentlemen" is a timeless piece of breakage that will fit across all styles from grime to techno. Deeper into the EP we dive to find a straight up slab of 4x4 ruffage on "POW" and bliss-licked chords and barbed soul on "Reach". Throw in a 23rd century Afrobeat version from SaidWho and you've got a supreme package. Southpoint = on point.

A pivotal figure behind the emergence of Grime and UK Funky sounds, there is no one better placed to compile and present a comprehensive collection of the latest evolutions of the House & Garage sound. Curiously enough, the package drops on Dallas imprint Audiophile XXL, as Americas biggest dance music Europhiles the Texans constantly have their ear to the ground and are no strangers to good old fashioned British basslines!
Superabound with dance floor ammunition and A-list names, it is an all killer no filler collection. Wittyboy & Tengu hook up on "Bioshock" with a bassline so harsh it will leave you with a sore throat. LR Groove drifts into more traditional tech-house territory on epic track "The Journey". Brent Kilner rattles he ribcage with a 2017 take on the Sheffield Niche nightclub sound. There are too many standout tracks to mention and in all honesty we have a lot of music to focus on but we would seriously rinse this day and night for the next fortnight if we could.

Review: Before delivering the promised 'arsenal of dutty new tunes for all you functioning bass addicts' next year, fledging bass label Saucy round up this one with a selection of all their best stuff from their sophomore year. There are a whopping 24 tracks to get your teeth into, highlights of which include the insanely catchy moody pop of opener "Summer Rain" by Inkline, the slamming garage/house of "Don't Stop (Jack Swaffer remix)" by Mike Jones and the eccentric beats and creeped out sounds of the "House Of Haunted Horrors" by Spooky and Spekktrum. What a label, what a year!

Review: U.S. imprint based out of Dallas, Audiophile XXL, has been unstoppable over the last year with a continuous onslaught of up and coming North American producers and their take on tech house, electro house and west coast bass sounds. This compilation showcases the labels current array of talent with eighteen tracks certainly guaranteed to destroy a dancefloor near you. Highlights include Los Angeleno Dillon Nathaniel's "Transcend" a bass heavy cut for late night parties on Hollywood Boulevard and sure to get some gun fingers in the air. Oregon's Aaron Jackson appears with "Get Some Jungle In Ya Jungle" which has some totally absurd vocoder and beat repeat action and rising British producer James Mannion: whose grime infused jam "BS7" is proper UK street sound.

Review: Although a relatively new name on the scene, Inkline has hit the ground running with solid, killer dance cuts that don't' mess about. "Shard" is a lacerating slice of tough and techy 4x4 with a little garage bounce for good measure. The title track meanwhile, is even more merciless, with deep bass judders and snappy snares. People get ready to move!

Review: XXL is a spin off-label from EDM operation Audiophile Live and has audibly been set up to tap into minimal house. The sound that emerges on Doble XX is far more mainstream than anything one might expect to find on say Perlon, but that doesn't stop some of its contributors from offering fresh interpretations on this well-worn sound. For example, Freefall & M3RC's "The Underground" sees snares crash and pitch-bent vocals flung into the equation, while Callie Reiff & C & T's "Like Dis" is an ever-morphing swathe of bass frequencies. Best of all though are the deeper moments, with the hypnotic filters and rolling groove of ADMN Feat Kid Enigma's "Hold It Down" impressing most.

Review: UK operation Saucy Record return with a swiftly compiled second volume of Saucy Selections featuring a healthy 17 cuts of Tech, Bass, House and Garage from the international community. Label regulars like Libra (UK), Melod!k, and Spekktrum brush up against Saucy newcomers and there's a pleasant array of styles and sounds to be found within this selection, moving from sultry cuts such as opener "Had Enough" by Chris Skapetis to tougher and rougher bassline movers. Grande's "NOS" playfully toys around the Club Constructions approach to dancefloor tools, whilst Spekktrum is on aggro form with compilation highlight "The Game".
