Say Watt - (8:10) 123 BPM Hot
Walk On - (6:53) 121 BPM
Review: Some 19 years on front the release of their debut single - on, of course, Drop Music - Inland Knights are still going strong. First up on the prolific duo's second single of 2017 is "Say Watt", a formidable peak-time workout built around rubbery disco bass, jazzy keys and their usual no-nonsense, East Midlands deep house beats. Interestingly, "Walk On" sees them depart from their trademark style, instead delivering a shuffling electro/deep house/acid hybrid featuring the kind of wayward vocal that was once all the rage in quirky Japanese pop songs. Crucially, when they allow the beats and acid lines room to breathe, it's something of a heavyweight jam.

Review: Drop Music head honchos and the undisputed kings of UK tech house return, with a serving of funky and slinky tech house. The Nottingham duo get stuck in straight away with the liquid, early evening groove of "I Think of You" with its soulful vocals sure to start some hands in the air moments. "Turn Around" keeps on with well executed, soulful house vocals above a bouncy bass and swing fuelled rhythm with that Derrick Carter style 'boompty' sound, that we all love. It is more typical fare by Riley and Richie on "Still Feel Good": some clean cut deep house with a razor sharp bassline, tight rhythm and nice vocal stabs, but closes out with the smooth and dusty R&B groove jam that is "Watt About It".

Figure It Out (D-Bow remix) - (7:50) 123 BPM
Review: As house music veterans of some 15 years, it comes as no surprise that Inland Knights' latest, "Figure It Out", should be such an impressive slice of downtempo house action, with a vocal recalling classic hip house with a slo-mo angle to it. The duo have also assembled a formidable selection of remixes to accompany it; Corduroy Mavericks take things more upbeat with its jazz-house direction, Max Hebert adds a technier slant to proceedings, Flapjackers Funky adds a touch of New Jersey garage bounce and D-Bow takes things into submerged funk territory.

Control
Control - (6:41) 125 BPM Hot
Control (Leif remix) - (6:19) 124 BPM
Control (Kamo remix) - (5:54) 117 BPM
Review: Lawrence and Andy from Inland Knights have served up a real ace in the form of "Control". It's a slow building funky-tech bomb that starts with a clap-happy old school beat which soon gets joined by classic house bass, itchy percussive stabs and an Adonis-style acid vocal. On a more classically funky tip, Trimside label-boss Leif spruces up the mix with some canny filtering and a more Braxe/Falke bassline, while Kamo slows things down a little for a spanking house-meets-future soul treatment that shines thanks to its forward thinking production tricks.

Review: Inland Knights' Broke EP slipped out just before Christmas, with a clutch of solid remixes. Funkfied have now unleashed another raft of re-rubs in a bid to satisfy a wide range of deep and tech house tastes. So we get a rich, soulful rub from Emil Lanne, a broody tech house rework from Guney Dubstar, some swing sampling chunkiness from Kane Ian and barrage of classic New Jersey organs from Soul De Martin. Then there's Hokum's faintly unsettling remix, which flits between warped acid stabs and moody chords for maximum late night pleasure. Job done.

Reality Check (original mix) - (7:30) 125 BPM Hot
Bite Back (feat Jamon - original mix) - (5:58) 126 BPM
Bite Back (feat Jamon - Larry Fives Dented mix) - (5:46) 126 BPM
Review: Drop Music reaches it 67th release with three new tracks from label owners Inland Knights. The Nottingham boys hit hard with this one, creating the kind of dancefloor killers we've come to expect from a duo whose impressive discography dates back more than a decade. Standout track, "Reality Check" samples Missy Elliot while "Bite Back" flows with a big, peak time groove.
