Review: London producer Rob Burn has been making waves on the UK underground as IO Sounds these past few years with a bass heavy brand of house displayed through releases on Derelicht, Madtech, and 20:20 Vision. The latter long-running Northern label have, of course, been strong IO Sounds advocates and they facilitate his latest single Another Love, notable for a fine remix from Last Magpie. Of the original IO Sounds tracks, the deep techy title cut impresses thanks to its shuffling warehouse groove whilst "Broken Teeth" is a wonderfully odd production. Here IO Sounds lays down foreboding vocal grunts over a grubby electro bassline and recycled drum breaks.

Review: Infinite Machine is Montreal's answer to Night Slugs or Dirtybird, where bass, house and techno meet, and for the label's twenty-first chapter, IO Sounds touches base once again on the imprint, along with Lakosa. Together they deliver a sweltering, sub-heavy interpretation of house, where "Livewire" amalgamates aspects of electro, tech-house and soundscapes reminiscent of ambient's sultry visions. "Got That Swag" is another house-bass hybrid, where the duo add sexy vocals to the beat's forceful swing. Infinite Machine delivering the goods once again...

Review: Utilising drum & bass siren Riya's silken vocals on a bass release might be this year's best idea yet. Weaving in and out of that house and dubstep and garage and footwork sound we're all so keen on right now, technical beats and lush atmospherics keep harsh synth stabs in check in the title track, while "Absense" and "Ruff" shake off their Mr Whippy soft sweetness and launch into an icy world of techy house and cool sampling perfect for late night dancefloors filled with long-haired girls and pastel strobes. For extra pop-quiz cool points, Kiri's remix of "Mindgames" was recently played in a Disclosure mix for Rinse FM. You're in with the Eton Messy crowd now, guys.
