Review: Irregular Disco Workers, AKA Italy's Andrea Frittella, comes to Spain's Rare Wiri with two fine disco cuts here. 'Neustart' could have beamed straight in from the early 80s, sitting as it does right on the cusp between funkier 70s grooves and the more electronic styles that would come to predominate as the new decade rolled on, and as such should quite comfortably make itself at home in a range of disco, funk or Italo sets. 'Sunset Boulevard', on the other hand, sits more identifiably in the 'faithully 70s-sounding' camp - pyow! pyow! stabs and all - with a little disco-house sheen on top for good measure.

Review: Here's something of a surprise: nu-disco veterans Irregular Disco Workers popping up on Otto Kraanen's Bordello A Parigi imprint. As befits a label dedicated to celebrating Italo-disco, proto-house and synth fetishism, Italofficina is little less than a wholehearted tribute to European and American dance music of the early-to-mid 1980s. They begin with "Dimmi Di Si", with Hard Ton doing his best Fred Ventura impressions over a breezy Italo groove. "Les Foiles" offers some early Chicago jack, while "Electronic Emotions" expertly joins the dots between chugging Italo and jaunty nu-disco. Finally, "Crisi Mistica" navigates calmer waters, fusing the dreamy melodiousness of deep house with the analogue pulse of Italo.
Review: Andrea Frittella and Gregorio Assandri may describe himself as an Irregular Disco Worker, but the truth is they've delivered impressive nu-disco ammunition on a pretty regular basis. Maybe they're being ironic with the name then, who knows, but there are four new cuts (one original, three remixes) here to get excited about - "Blindfolded" is a squelchy, meandering analogue ditty with serious 70s soundtrack vibes. The best remixes are Jad & The Ladyboys' stripped back Juan Maclean-esque nu-disco version and, best of all, Paradisko's otherworldly deep house jam.

Review: Craig Bratley's Magic Feet label has been putting out some pretty impressive Balearic mood bombs for a good few years now, and here's the evidence, its first label compilation. We don't know if the title, Now That's Magic", is an obscure nod to Paul Daniels or not, but there's no smoke and mirrors with the array of artists collected here. Highlights include Rich Lane's doomy take on new beat classic "Flesh", Dark Strand's Bobby-O-on-downers gem, "Return Of The Oscillator and Antoni Maiovi's killer sleazy electro disco jack-a-thon, "Megametropolis".

Review: Dynamicron's Latino-centric nu-disco label Los Grandes, deliver their fourth long-playing comp, gathering the best re-edits they can find. The label boss himself delivers the first of 20 tracks, "She", which sounds like a very subtle edit of an undetermined, but luscious and silky sheeted, Bee Gees track. Elsewhere Brendon P's "Before You Go Away" evokes The Avalanches, Panorama's "Straight From The Heart" is pure cut mid 80s digital soul and on the same tip, Dennis Edwards is edited further by Teniente Castillo on "Don't Dub Any Further". William Devaughn's "Be Thankful" is beautifully teased out by Kompleks before things end with "Shameless Hotel", a crazy take on The Eagles by the Irregular Disco Workers.

Review: Dynamicron's Los Grandes label returns with another bumper, album-length trawl through the world of contemporary "edits-not-edits" - groovy, hypnotic dancefloor fusions that touch on disco, soul, Balearica, deep house and AOR. Across the 11 tracks, there's plenty to excite, from the dubby slo-mo shuffle of Brandon P ("Mo Lovin") and organic groovery of Heion ("Keep On Hiding"), to the classics-reinvented style of DJ Butcher (the "Wordyrappinghood" biting of "You Don't Stop") and Irregular Disco Workers' booming Balearic dub disco. Best of all, though, is "Bakerman", a cracking Laid Back rework from the talented Get Down Edits.
Review: San Fran man Tal M Klein could be described as a "serial collaborator". Here he offers up two more fine collaborations, one with fast-rising Soundcloud stars Irregular Disco Workers, and the other with regular muse Anthony Mansfield. "Slow Down", his showdown with the Irregular Disco Workers, is pleasingly Balearic; a shuffling, hands-aloft combination of slo-mo acid tweakery, drifting Harmonicas and piano house goodness. Think early Fila Brazilia meets Slow to Speak, and you're close. "Polk Street Stumblin", meanwhile, covers familiar Mansfield/Klein ground, offering a druggy analogue groove overlaid with weird noises and a killer double bass sample.
