Review: The road don't stop in Bristol. Flex 180 to the other UK coastal outlier for more inspo as cats in Anglia show us how it's done on the east side. There's some tasty names on board, too, as Damageman takes the lead with the big bruising 'Grey' before Conrad Subs freezes us in our track with an iced out grime-flavoured 'Version'. Elsewhere Flat T' brings dusty funk samples on the earth-flattening 'Freddie Got Fingered', JOE goes for that old school D*Minds vibe while Phaze One has us all in a soaking wet mess on 'Champion Tuneup' as a jump up wobbler turns into a lighter raising anthem. Review: Inbound, outbound, walloping free: J.O.E joins the burgeoning crew at Chase The Bass with three dancefloor stink-ups. 'Inbound' takes the lead with a really fun, waspy jump-up style bassline that twists and turns in a cool early 2000s way. Deeper into the EP we hit 'New Force' where another big riffy bassline bumps and bangs into the mix with funk and ever-mutating fury before 'Your Mind' wraps up the EP with raw drama and kicks so broad they feel like sledgehammers. Review: The hip bone's connected to the thigh bone, we all know this. But did you know that the gully bone is connected to the banger bone? Or that the skank bone is connected to the goosebump bone? No? Well you best tune into this epic TED talk from J.O.E. Six cuts deep, all tickling a different funny bone, there's some proper academic action going on here. They were probably expecting you to have settled down into a more conventional life than this but it's 2023 and nothing is conventional any more and what could be more fun than sharing your life with the likes of Conrad Subs, Lundy, J.O.E and Pruf? Expect sublime relationship complications throughout; 'Ashes To Ashes' whispers sweet nothings in your ear before slicing it off, 'Value Of Drugs' gets you high on life but refuses to catch you when you fall back down, 'Dimension X' will strip you of your belongings but tell you you're gorgeous. Damageman kicks off with the theatrical late 2000s flavoured 'Bassline Business', Conrad Subs shows off his love for formative steppy Virus vibes while J.O.E goes full-on Bristol with the chugging bassline groove of 'Eternal'. Review: Damageman's Sub Heavy hits the big twenty with this supersized V/A EP from some of the label's nearest, dearest and ruffest of friends. The main man takes the lead with 'Tell You Something', a gently dubby stepper laced with sultry vox and wormy subs. He's backed all the way by the likes of Conrad Subs with the fittingly titled face-ripper 'Hefty One', J.O.E gets his skank on with the bulldozer funk-up 'Likkle Yout Man', DJ Direkt strips things right back to the bare grizzly bones on 'Untitled' while Trauma DBC closes down the EP with a full-on deadly 'Lazer' fight. Beam us up!

Review: It's been a big year for J.O.E with proper scuds on the likes of Sub-Heavy, Calypso Muzak, 24 Karat and Dubplate Dread, now he seals the deal with a spot on the hallowed halls of Liondub International's Street Series. Seven tracks in total, J.O.E's gone in every angle with highlights hitting hard: 'Wait' is a nod towards the catchy, intoxicating Q&A style of Serum, 'Watch Me Dance' flips between a cheeky house sample and a savage coiled spring bassline while 'Patch This' strips things right back to the bare essentials - a sexy sub and rattling drums. And that's not even half of it. 90 thumbs up.

Review: J.O.E is on Sub Heavy Audio and is giving all of us a lesson in how to produce tough, stripped back sonics which carry more attitude than a rhino in heat. 'The Ridim' is the best example of this, as a no-nonsense drum line penetrates a precisely placed array of gully bass pulls and hair-rising low-frequency pushes. The flip is more classic jump-up, as a potent blast of stabs combine into the type of hands-in-the-air dancefloor action we've come to expect from the genre. Proper stuff.

Review: 24 Karat presumably get their name from the measurement for gold and this compilation is, by any stretch of the imagination, full of weight. Featuring tunes from artists old and new in the 24 Karat camp, this album stretches across 17 heavy, dancefloor numbers. The first outing, 'Heavy Hitters' by Danny Styles, is classic funk-into-dancefloor vibes and we love the array of twisting, snarling basses that fans of this producer will recognise. Danny is a regular throughout this one and he nails it consistently. Shouts also to Faysha on the sweet 'Heavy', as well as Keith Patience on thee crazy jungle number that is 'HeadShot'. Big.

Review: Hurtling towards their one year anniversary in style, Damageman's Sub Heavy Audio dish up their first substantial V/A EP with this epic five track exploration from some of their clear players. All wriggling and writhing around stripped back stinky vibe, each cut hits the spot with clarity and precision. Stand-out moments include the deft vocal sample twists and turns of Rodeo's "Moves", Damageman and Craftmus's springy black magic slap-about "Wicked Spells" and the sweeping, star-gazing rushes of Dec James' "Supernova" but all five cuts here deserve your full attention. Review: Conrad Subs and Joe are in this game to do serious damage to the eardrums of those who listen and this single seems like it was made with that objective in mind. The first tune, 'Sloppy' is clean and sparse in the drums which lends extra clarity to the bassline, an elongated expression of moodiness with a quality injection of additional bounce. 'Close To Home' strikes a similar chord but does so with more vigour, a haunting sample fills up the highs whilst a driving back end pushes the track forwards with pace and momentum. Big single.

Review: If you like your jungle then this release should be right up your street, because it's essentially six tracks of straight up jungle heat. Our personal favourite is Pablo G's remix of J.O.E's 'What You Gonna Do', which has a wicked drop that comes off the back of a load of really soulful sampling work. It has proper old school vibes all over it and the whole arrangement works really well. Every other track is pretty much just as good, with wobbling sines, big old reece basses and a truckload of stuttering breaksy magic, Oooh yeah!

Review: Some people say J.O.E stands for Just Oily Elephants. Other people say J.O.E stands for Juicy Oranges Everyday. The truth is we don't know. But he does sound like a proper slippery stampede and it does feel like he's maxed out on vitamin C, too. Heavy, vital and hookier than a pirate convention; "Eternal" is a blessy mixing tool with a bubbling, riffy bassline that can cut through any blend and bring a mix to life. "It Is Everywhere" takes us down a darker path thanks to its groaning, decaying bassline and rolling breaks. Both absolutely kill it in the dance.
