Review: Given that money from all sales of this release go to the War Child charity (an institution that fine Scottish imprint Craigie Knowes has been supporting since its inception), it would be easy to recommend buying it regardless of the quality of the music contained within. Happily, it's a brilliant EP full of fabulous cuts that you really should own regardless of the release's philanthropic intentions. Check, for example, the fluid, off kilter, subtly disco-tinged brilliance of Mark Du Mosch's "Flyyying" [sic], the deep and spacey electro lusciousness of William The Squid's "Arab Sun" and the heavy analogue wonkiness of jack-track specialist Jared Wilson's "Pulsewidth". Arguably best of all, though, is the twisted acid house psychedelia of Eluize's breath-taking closer "L.L.L".

Review: After a brief flirtation with Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Jared Wilson is back on Jerome Hill's Super Rhythm Trax imprint. Predictably, he's in a retro-futurist kind of mood, delivering tracks that tip a wink to a variety of vintage house and techno productions. He begins with the Larry Heard style warmth, Chez Damier percussion and Detroit techno cymbal lines of "Getting That Feelin", before diving headfirst into the world of classic Chicago jazz on heavyweight acid wriggler "It's The Message". He tehn carries on with the ghostly chords, intelligent techno electronics and mind-altering acid lines of "Midnight On Ecorse Creek", before Wilson caps a fine EP via the Mr Fingers style deep house-jack of "Acid Feeling".

Review: Two heroes of the new breed kick off a new mix series for Jamie Jones' esteemed Hot Creations imprint. Jones began Paradise at DC10 (Ibiza) five years ago and it's gone on to be a huge success, inviting the biggest names in the business to come play alongside his crew of residents. The first mix is courtesy of Toronto's Nathan Barato, a frequent collaborator with local heroes such as Carlo Lio and The Junkies and whose career has been on the rise with releases on Cajual, Saved, Circus and Defected. Highlights include the Derrick Carter classic "Where Ya At?" (Mix Originale), Makam's brooding "Loleatta" and Jared Wilson's rusty acid odyssey "Girl, I'm Waitin". UK talent Patrick Topping this year completed his third summer as resident at DC10 in Ibiza for Paradise. Here Topping showcases the sound and style of his sets with high energy from the word go. His mix features several of his own productions guaranteed for maximum dancefloor impact, as well as Metaboman's lo-slung and exotic "Next Please" through to Dave Clarke's massive remix of Jark Prongo's "Movin Thru Your System".

Review: Glasgow imprint Dixon Avenue Basement Jams are really on a roll at the moment aren't they! After some great releases by the likes of Casio Royale and Big Miz they now present the return of Detroit producer Jared Wilson, who last appeared for the label back in 2012. The Communing With Ghosts EP features "Pheo Acid" which is a dark and epic 303 excursion that will no doubt appeal to hardcore fans of the classic Chicago sound. "Acid River" (getting the theme now?) is more restrained with the relentless squelch of that little silver box, but still pumps along at a nice pace. On the flip we've next got "Smartbar Acid" which we really can imagine sounds like a night up at the infamous Windy City institution. Finally the title track might break the pattern of names thus far but not the sound (thankfully) and it's definitely the most high octane acid track on here that would make even DJ Pierre himself stand up and notice.

Review: Few labels have quite as successfully channeled the original spirit of Chicagoan acid house and early British techno than Super Rhythm Trax. They're at it again here, serving up a trio of 1990 style, rave-era British acid house/techno tributes from former Skudge Presents and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams man Jared Wilson. The three tracks could be considered riffs on a theme, as each - in different ways - reminded us of Orbital's early work. Choose between the bold acid lines and jack-track beats of "How Deep", the acid melodies and "Belfast" style chords of "Plate Mining", and the pleasingly alien acid-funk of "Idea of A Deep State".

Review: Dixon Avenue Basement Jams presents three analogue power cuts from Detroit acid don, Jared Wilson as its first release! "Why Trust" is a militant 303 jam that keeps building energy right until its closure. Following this, we have "Unknown Desires", which also uses acid as its main ingredient but does so more subtly and applies raw, unforgiving drum machine percussions around it. Finally, "Challenging Shadows" slows the pace down to form a beautiful, New York style electro-reminiscent house jam.
