Review: It's difficult to envisage a Breakbeat Paradise drop that doesn't feature a serious tonne of quality, with this latest collection of 13 powerful creations making up the 'Boots Of Paradise' collection. The project takes a very central theme of reigniting hip hop vocals with dancefloor-ready reworks, from the classic Biggie sampling of Crash Party's 'The Juice' to the old school slicing of 'Ice Cream' from LROY and Aliens In Denmark's 'Chatty Tramp'. Even with this pretty solid central theme, the project has a lot of variation involved, from the sharpened drum punches and modernized synth slides of 'Brick Bounce' by Towlie DJ, to the more 4x4 influenced grooves of Morlack's 'Fall In Love With Me'. Review: JayL Funk's delightful approach to edits and vintage reincarnations has just got a new groove on thanks to this little beauty of a two-tracker for the Honkey Phonk imprint, and it's hard to have a smile on your face when listening to this gear on a Friday morning. Featuring the Tarzan Bros, "Funkin Your Soul" offers a chunky boogie bass that drops like a mother****** on the speakers, leaving absolutely no laggers standing awkwardly in the corners. Trotter mix is a little more elegant in its approach, but still carries the original's tight groove, hummable vocals and utterly funked-out bass.

Review: Germany's prolific Jayl Funk returns to Italy's Sound Exhibitions. "Get On Ya Feet" is served up in two mixes: the Original Mix will appeal to fans of "new old" funk and soul acts like the Dap Kings, Speedometer or Lack Of Afro, though there's a distinct house-y feel to the pianos too, while the Disco Edit beefs up the kicks and brings the piano and strings further to the fore, making it the better bet for dancefloor play in livelier spots. Completing the package is "Waiting For You", which has more of an R&B/pop feel thanks to its counterpointed sing-song female and rapped male vocals, but which is irresistibly catchy all the same.

Review: Jayl Funk has been turning out the party-starting funk grooves for well over a decade now and this latest pair, brought to you by Timewarp Music, won't disappoint fans of his previous work one iota. 'You Gotta Feel It' opens with a rave-y warping synth riff, then brings in pianos and female vocal wails before finally bursting out in all its funk-fuelled nu-disco glory. The pop-style vox might be a bit much for some but there's no doubting the bassline or the horns work... so it's just as well there's also an instrumental included, isn't it? 'Step Into It' features the same vocalist but is a little more laidback in feel.

Review: Influenced by old school breakbeat, house, funk and soul samples, Nuremberg producer Jayl Funk makes his full debut on Sound Exhibitions following a deuce of contributions to Metamorphosis Vol 1 and Summer Nu Funk earlier this year. Raise Your Hands sends in two feel-good originals with the title track riffing with funky guitars, phased out synths and a funky Miami beachside steez. "Love Time" on the flip sees a R&B vocal melody meet with some stringed disco and a hyped percussive drum section.

The whole project just exhales creativity in sonic design, from the rootsy overhauls of Jayl Funk's 'Come On Little Girl' to the more funkadelic refills of Pecoe's 'Bring Your Body.
